Lockheed Martin is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer that is ready to engage in projects that contribute to the safety and security of the United States and its Allies while collaborating with some of the most experienced engineers in the industry.

MET-I Description: The Missile Defense Agency Engineering Team – Industry (MET-I), also called the National Team, provides systems engineering solutions to the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) for the development and evolution of the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS). The BMDS is an integrated, layered architecture that provides multiple opportunities to destroy missiles and their warheads before they can reach their targets. MET-I system engineers perform system-level assessments of the existing BMDS architecture and study the impacts of new technologies and concepts being considered for future BMDS architectures. The National Team engineers work closely with the MDA, FFRDCs, and various contractors and suppliers to shape the future of missile defense.

Advanced Concepts and Future Architecture Lead: This position reports to the Systems Concepts and Requirements IPT lead.
This leader provides technical oversight and management for a team of systems engineers and interfaces with missile defense thought leaders across government, military, and industry to assess new technologies and recommend research and investment to achieve capabilities within the realm of the possible for the next several decades.
The level of analysis performed by the team spans simple trades to complex modeling in medium fidelity environments.
This leader will help the MDA customers to understand the questions that need to be answered as well proposing the work that needs to occur in order to answer those questions. The leader will work with the team to design and execute special studies that aid in the procurement of future systems.
This position requires ability to identify the scope and schedule for initial system of system behavior and performance analysis to include coordination with missile defense sub-system engineers, working groups and product teams performing trades/analysis, peer reviews, architectural modeling, and simulations to characterize BMDS system performance.
This leader is responsible for defining metrics and methodologies needed to compare, contrast, evaluate, and recommend courses of action for critical future functions of missile defense.
This leader is also responsible for managing team member allocations and coordinating with other work groups to ensure that projects are appropriately staffed
Candidate will routinely provide succinct yet comprehensive briefings to inform and assist internal and external decision makers

Basic Qualifications
This position requires an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)
Systems engineering background in a complex DoD system
Experience in writing and defending competitive proposals for DoD Customers
Demonstrated ability to manage tasks within cost, schedule, and performance
Strong coordination, organization, teaming and communication abilities along with horizontal integration skills

Desired skills
The following skills are desired, but not required in order to be considered a candidate:
Experience in missile defense requirements development
Participation in internal research and development project, or similar, excursions as both an individual contributor and a team lead
Experience with a Missile Defense or similar domains such as Ground-Based Midcourse Defense (GMD), directed energy, hypersonics, exo-atmoshperic kill vehicles, Theater High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD), Patriot, Aegis BMD, S or X-band radars, C2BMC
Experience with a Unified Modeling Language (UML) tool (e.g., Rhapsody, System Architect, Magic Draw, etc.) and requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS)
