The Leadership Development Program (LDP) at RTX is a cross functional, fast-tracked leadership program focused on early career talent. The program incorporates three in-person, enterprise cross-functional sessions held over a two year period.

Participants will be given challenging assignments that will develop functional skills. Participants may have the opportunity to travel throughout the country to attend training sessions that provide not only contracts-specific training but also training across different functions to develop leadership and business acumen.

Job Description:
The Rotational Engineering Leadership Development Program (RELDP) is an early career rotational program for top engineering students that cycles engineers through two 12-month rotations across our enterprise. The program allows accelerated development opportunities with the goal of growing world class leaders.

Our commitment to you is to provide front-line, hands-on, business-critical assignments designed to stretch your capabilities and enhance your learning.

In addition to the unique experiences gained through rotation assignments, participants will receive high-caliber training, mentoring and guidance from leading RTX executives, engineering leaders, technical fellows, and subject matter experts as well as current participants and alumni.

The program is sponsored by the Vice President, Technology & Global Engineering.

The first assignment associated with this job requisition is with the Software Products Engineering (SPE) organization within our Missiles & Defense (RMD) business unit. RMD is a technology and innovation leader specializing in defense, security and civil markets where youll be part of a global team. We are the world's largest developer, producer and integrator of weapon systems. Military forces in more than 50 countries look to us for a high-quality product portfolio that includes missiles, smart munitions, projectiles, kinetic kill vehicles and directed energy weapons.

SPE develops flight software applications, including integration and test on missiles, launchers, fire control and other complex systems. Our precision software and firmware integrates operating systems, device drivers, networking, and control software to bring together sensor, guidance, and flight control processing features to complete the mission. Our engineers design, develop, and build innovative solutions for the U.S. Government. Experience all aspects of a software development life-cycle as a member of a fast-paced agile team on the leading edge of:

  • DevOps technologies and methods

As a Software Engineer, you will:
  • Assist and participate in the research, design, development and testing of real-time embedded software, firmware, and tools, to include development of new work products or enhancement of existing applications and systems
  • Design, code, test, integrate and document software solutions
  • Participate in internal review of software components and systems
  • Collaborate with project leaders and other professionals within Engineering
  • Work on problems with defined scope, schedule and expectations
  • Follow established development practices and processes to maintain the configuration management of software products

U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment.

Required Education:
  • Graduating with a Masters Degree or PhD in engineering or a hard science in the current academic year (September 2020 - June 2021)
  • A 3.5 GPA or higher in graduate studies; a 3.2 GPA or higher in undergraduate studies

Required Skills:
  • Experience with C, C++, or Java
  • U.S. Citizenship is required

Desired Skills:
  • College coursework covering modern software languages (such as C, C++, or Java)
  • 1 year or more of calculus, physics and computer science studies that include assembly level programming
  • Knowledge of data structures and algorithms
  • Knowledge of systems software design, operating systems and architectures
  • ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures
  • Demonstrated ability to work with colleagues who represent a diversity of work and conflict resolution styles

Your first assignment will be located in beautiful Tucson, AZ.
