We are seeking a candidate who would be responsible for the planning, design, execution and reporting of product development and testing. This position is expected to provide technical support for prototype builds and prototype testing. The tasks of this position will be conducted both independently and in collaboration with design engineers and other test engineers and technicians. The successful candidate is a dedicated teammate who is tolerant of risk and uncertainty, thrives in a highly-technical, collaborative environment and has significant experience working within multidisciplinary teams.

Key Qualifications

  • Ability to show hands-on experience in setting up, running, maintaining and troubleshooting tests utilizing equipment.
  • Proven hands-on experience with instrumentation and data acquisition equipment including, but not limited to: strain gauges, thermocouples, accelerometers, LVDT's, linear potentiometers, load cells, pressure transducers, and flow meters.
  • Proficient with fabrication tools such as: Mill, Lathe, Drill Press, Saws, Shear, Break, and 3D printing. (Laser, Water Jet and CNC machining is a plus)
  • Reliable and accurate documentation and tracking as required by experimental design.
  • Strong Integrity, interpersonal skills, and with a collaborative style which earns the respect of peers, subordinates and clients
  • Proactive, communicative team player with the ability to articulate effectively at the executive level as well as with multiple subject areas across the company. Excellent communication, documentation and presentation skills.
  • Minimum of 5 years of practical laboratory and test experience.
  • Strong fundamental knowledge of Electrical, Mechanical principals.
  • Excellent trouble shooting skills for various engineering challenges.
  • Self-motivated and passionate in delivering best in class test solutions.
  • Experience and background in one or more of the below area preferred: 2D/3D CAD fixture design and tolerance stack-up analysis, Prototype/Bench test setup, labVIEW and/or Python programing, Knowledge test equipment Gauge R&R, correlation, failure analysis, data analysis, design of experiments, etc.

Description

Utilize equipment to build and test products, systems and related components under electrical, mechanical stresses.
As needed, design and develop customized equipment, fixtures and/or protocols to enable highly accurate execution of these testing activities.
Participate in the definition, selection, procurement, commissioning and validation of equipment needed for testing.
Determine feasibility and coordinate the activities of third party machine shops or fabrication facilities.
Drive continuous improvement in standardized test protocols as well as in data acquisition, analysis and archiving systems.
Troubleshoot failed test and product samples and provide processes or solutions for the failures.
Perform system tear downs as a key component of failure analysis and root cause investigation. Coordinate the participation of various internal and external groups in this activity.
Develop and adhere to lab safety protocols. Ensure compliance within lab to all regulations and good housekeeping practices.
Conduct regular safety checks and audits of testing equipment.
