Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a professional, innovative, and detailed individual for our Mechanical Engineering Intern position. In Research and Development you will work on multi-disciplinary design teams to design and test SEL products, gaining experience with structural and thermal analyses, a wide variety of manufacturing methods, and mechanical test equipment. Guidance and learning opportunities to be provided by several experienced engineers. The ideal candidate for this position will be able to work part-time during the school year and full-time during the summer. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Provide support to mechanical engineering staff as needed, including conducting mechanical design tests.
2. Update redlined SolidWorks drawings as needed.
3. Data entry of technical information into company databases (DataWorks, MS Access, Lotus Notes).
4. Follow engineering quality assurance procedures.
5. Continuously identify, measure, and improve processes.
6. Understand. Create. Simplify.
7. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Current student with one to two years undergraduate studies in engineering
Ability to conduct and document defined testing procedures
Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills
Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
Background check results satisfactory to SEL
Negative drug test result(s)

Preferred Qualifications
1 year SolidWorks Experience
Working knowledge of MS Office Applications
Experience filing engineering documentation
Finite element analysis experience a plus
