Essential Functions

  • Provide machinery solutions for customer applications using company best practices and products
  • Provide engineering information and coordination in finding solutions to customer applications
  • Act as liaison between Engineering and other departments including Sales and Service personnel located across North America; assist other departments with engineering-related issues and ensure open information flow
  • Participate in tasks requiring collaborative engagement with end-users, distributors and the outside sales team; represent the company and department appropriately while providing competent technical leadership
  • Responsible for maintaining and ensuring engineering quality of work for production drawings and bills of materials is maintained
  • Provide solutions to miscellaneous engineering and production issues
  • Facilitates collaborative project planning & execution
  • Other miscellaneous duties related to the position and as directed

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated strong knowledge and competency in the ability to communicate complex and technical information in ways a competent audience can understand
  • Excellent written and verbal communications in English
  • Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent – eligibility for P.Eng. in BC is an asset
  • 5 to 7 years work experience, preferably in the manufacturing industry
  • Knowledge of packaging machinery, corrugated industry and manufacturing processes considered assets
  • Demonstrated strong knowledge and competency in following areas:
  • Electro-Mechanical Machine design and automation
  • CAD design software – Solidworks & Autocad
  • Engineering documentation creation, interpretation and verification
  • Bills of Materials & execution of production in a repetitive manufacturing environment
  • ERP/MRP experience is preferred
  • Analytical, multi-tasking, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Inquisitive, detail-oriented, open-minded, and willingness to expand knowledge base
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional and cross-technology teams
  • Ability to prioritize tasks driven by deadlines and urgency, and work independently as a specialist with minimal supervision or guidance

Physical Demands/Requirements

  • Attendance in the office
  • Extended periods of sitting, standing and/or bending
  • Extended periods of computer use
  • Regular use of telephone, photocopier and fax machines
  • Periodic overtime if required
  • Periodic travel possible including oversees travel for up to 5 consecutive days
