Job Summary:

Raytheon Missile Defense (RMD) Mechanical Product Team (MPT) provides an exceptional team in mechanical hardware design, development and production of radar, sonar, torpedo, and combat system equipment. The Mechanical Product Team uses state-of the-art tools, processes, technology, and RMD's Six Sigma principles. MPTs capabilities encompass a broad range of technical disciplines which include engineering, manufacturing, technical services, materials, processes, analysis, test and documentation.

The Air Defense Ground Equipment (ADGE) Department manages mechanical design, development, and integration of platform systems. This includes shelter systems, hardware integration, cable & interconnections, as well as facility development, and site integration. The department is comprised of team members with technical expertise and experience in hardware design, integration, and production support.

Job Summary:
As a Mechanical Engineer II you will be responsible for:
  • Mechanical design and documentation of Patriot hardware and systems
  • Factory and supplier support of product integration domestically and internationally
  • Interface with other engineering disciplines and non-technical disciplines and interface with suppliers to resolve technical issues.
  • Support development, evaluation, and analysis of mechanical designs.
  • Drawing generation, drawing release, and drawing change incorporation
  • Resolution of change requests from manufacturing or suppliers
  • Holding design reviews and resolving action items
  • Development of rework and/or modification procedures
  • Support the production floor on a regular basis, collecting issues, providing status and participate in problem resolution.
  • Utilize CREO CAD tool for modeling and documentation creation

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline
  • 2+ years of experience in engineering design experience with a focus on hardware development
  • Proficient with CREO (Pro-E) and Product Data Management (PDM)
The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Value:
  • Experience in design, fabrication, and integration of electronic assemblies, shelter assemblies, power distribution equipment packaging, and rack systems
  • Electronic packaging experience
  • Utilizes sound engineering judgement and creative problem-solving skills to develop solutions to challenging engineering/analytical issues
  • Demonstrated hands-on mechanical aptitude with the ability to work across disciplines
  • Knowledge in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
  • Ability to work with minimum direct supervision, self-motivated and results oriented
  • Experience in technical risk management
  • Experience developing cost proposal estimates
  • Understanding of the product development lifecycle models, program lifecycle modes, and experience with earned value management
  • Ability to resolve technical issues resulting from manufacturing or supplier inquiries
  • Strong organization skills with ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Detail oriented with strong coordination skills, ability to work in a team environment
  • Solid understanding of configuration management practices
  • Proven written and oral communication skills, including presentation skills
