Job Description

The Mechanical Engineer will work closely with the Technology Development tester design team developing complex mechanical components and chassis solutions for Intel's tester ecosystem. They will work to Identify capable suppliers based on design requirements, and engage directly with mechanical suppliers to ensure components meet design, quality, and schedule requirements. Strong technical knowledge and communication with suppliers, Influencing expertise, collaboration, partnership with senior leaders, internal and external to Intel.

The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for but not limited to:

  • Development of next-generation tester mechanical supply base 
  • Selecting optimal solutions aligned with Intel's technical roadmap requirements.
  • Collaborate with other engineers on the design team such as mechanical and electronic design engineers to ensure the overall product meets requirements and timelines. 
  • Help ensure designs meet and exceed product specifications, cost goals, regulatory requirements, and international standards. 
  • Partner with mechanical and electronic engineers to develop system requirements.
  • Participate in combined design reviews, discuss design implementation,
  • Discuss needs and support requirements from other engineering functions for successful completion and execution of the device as a whole. 
  • Defines the technical requirements for supplier selection
  • Supports Q&R engagement with suppliers on quality escalations and Supplier quality audits.
  • Works with Q&R and to qualify new Suppliers, qualify supplier processes and qualify new technologies and processes as they push the technology envelope.
  • Supports qualification of both low volume NPI component suppliers and transfer of those components to high volume suppliers.
  • Supports and facilitates supplier DFx and FMEA analysis when required.
  • Reviews drawings and specs to ensure suppliers have a clear understanding of MFG requirements.
  • Work together with the suppliers to define the raw materials and overall materials process flow, to meet quality, reliability, cost, yield, and manufacturability requirements.

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. 

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Manufacturing Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.

5+ years of experience in related fields such as:

  • Assembly Test, Technology Development, or other related disciplines.
  • Mechanical component fabrication processes and materials.
  • Statistical process controls and quality systems for the manufacturing process.
  • Material reliability and qualification standards and methods.

This position is not eligible for Intel immigration sponsorship.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or Ph.D. of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and/or related discipline. 
  • Experience in product and/or process design and development.
  • Experience and track record working with external supply base and knowledge of supply chain engineering deliverables.
  • ASME American Drawings Standards and Geometric Tolerancing per Y 14.5M
  • 3D CAD
