Apply Composite Material Engineering Principles to enable manufacturing (and/or research and development) of composite parts including fiber reinforced organic matrix materials and fabrication processes Automated Fiber Placement (AFP), traditional hand lay-up) and associated processes. Materials and Process (M&P) tasks include:
1) Lead the AFP efforts on multiple programs
2) Assist in the development of on-site Composite M&P engineers,
3) interface with supplier vendor base technical issues concerning (raw composite materials, parts fabrication, new materials/processes, and/or review of manufacturing plans;
4) Develop and implement composite research/qualification plans; 5) process development; technical presentations; proper selection of materials and processes ensuring attainment of design objectives;
6) participate in non-conformance disposition and Corrective Action processes;
7) participate in structural lay-outs and design reviews; and/or
8) authoring/maintaining/updating composite specifications.
Must be a US Citizen. This position will require access to a facility that requires special access

Basic Qualifications
• BS in Materials Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering (or equivalent) from an accredited college
• Experience applying Materials and Processes knowledge to assist with aircraft design
• Exceptional communication skills to mentor and train other engineers
• Experience working on diverse engineering teams
• Experience with military or government programs
• US Citizen

Desired skills
Extensive knowledge of Aircraft composite part fabrication, using Advanced Fiber Placement automated equipment, hand lay and other fabrication techniques
Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in the English Language
Education or training in statistical analysis and polymer composite processing,
Experience with issues related to inserting new technologies into production programs is a plus
Strong written and oral communication skills
Strong analytical skills
Ability to work with and communicate with other Engineering disciplines
Ability to work individually and/or collaboratively on multiple concurrent projects
