Are you interested in joining a dynamic, inclusive, and growing high tech team? Raytheon Missiles & Defense is looking for a Senior Manager within the Advanced Technology organization in Portsmouth, Rhode Island.

The mission of Advanced Technology is to develop and mature key technical discriminators through Contract Research and Development (CRAD) with our Science and Technology (S&T) customers. Through teamwork and collaboration across Raytheon, we develop the next generation of advanced capabilities for the warfighter and civil authority customers.

The Maritime Advanced Technology Program Leader will hold management responsibility for all phases of technical, financial, and schedule performance on assigned programs or capture efforts. The successful candidate will manage projects, customers and personnel that deliver capabilities for the maritime domain, which includes undersea, on the sea surface, and above-the-sea. Raytheon is a world leader in the development of naval radars, sonars, torpedoes, mine warfare products, ship combat systems, navigation and bridge systems, submarine and surface ship systems.

In this capacity, you will:
  • Act as primary customer contact to ensure that contract commitments are fulfilled
  • Establish milestones and monitor adherence to program/capture master plans and schedules
  • Develop control systems and reports to assess progress
  • Direct the performance of program/capture cross-business teams in engineering,
manufacturing, finance and contracts
  • Identify potential problems and implement corrective actions
  • Anticipate customer needs to ensure satisfaction and continued business
  • Ensure technical objectives of assigned programs are achieved
  • Identify new business opportunities
  • Support the development of Annual Operating, Strategic, and 5 Year Business Plans

In addition to these program/capture responsibilities, the candidate will also be called upon to prepare and present presentations to Customers / internal management, lead and / or coordinate the development of proposals, statements of work and specifications, estimation of product/service costs, support negotiations and oversee contract administration activities.

This position requires a current Secret U.S. Security Clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Required Qualifications:
  • 12+ years of prior relevant experience
  • MS Degree in Engineering or Business related disciplines
  • Engineering team and program management experience
  • Experience with project management tools including Earned-Value Management
  • Experience leading internal research & development projects
  • Experience with business tools including Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Microsoft Project
  • Experience working in a team environment and Experience in obtaining Intellectual Property on emerging technologies
  • United States Citizenship
  • Existing DOD Secret Level clearance or higher

Desired Qualifications:
  • PhD Degree in Engineering or Business related disciplines
  • Experience in a multi-discipline environment working in Contract Research & Development, specifically in new business capture, proposal development, technology evaluation, program management, and technical contribution
  • Cost Account Management (CAM) experience
  • Experience with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FARS)
  • Experience in maritime domain physics and technologies, and US Naval government and industry organizations and test assets
  • Knowledge of IPDS ( integrated product development system )
  • Experience effectively directing, influencing, motivating and supervising team members
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task to achieve good results across multiple priorities
  • Existing Top Secret Security Clearance
