The Manufacturing Process Engineering (MPE) team at Apple is driving the state of the art of manufacturing technology for displays in Apple's products. As a member in this team, you will be responsible for the development and engineering of process technology and manufacturing equipment to enable new features for display and sensor modules of Apple products.

Key Qualifications

  • A strong team player. The ideal candidate will need to have hands-on experience in the design and development of manufacturing processes and/or equipment in the flat panel display, plastic touch sensor, solar cell, LED, semiconductor, automotive or other similar industry.
  • Product assembly SOP definition and review
  • Product assembly fixture development and qualification
  • Auto manufacturing equipment design, DFM review and qualification
  • Process parameter development through systemically methodology (Design, perform DOE, data analysis and define the parameters with solid data support)
  • Experience with automated equipment design and process bring-up.
  • Experience in one or more of the following process technologies is preferred: Bonding, lamination, PVD, CVD, inkjet printing, screen printing, etching, cleaning, thermal processing, laser processing, roll-to-roll processing.
  • Prefer deep experience in measurement techniques and high skill level to handle actual measurement tools equipment - OMM, CMM, AOI, etc
  • Working knowledge of GD&T, metrology design, 6 sigma
  • Demonstrated ability to perform mechanical tolerance stack-up, DOE, SPC, GD&T, metrology design and 6 sigma. Familiarity with failure analysis techniques such as SEM, EDX, FTIR, etc is required.
  • Excellent written & verbal English communication skills are required.
  • Program/project management experience is a plus
  • Be able to work independently under high pressure and tight schedule.
  • Ability to travel internationally 25%

Description
Partnering with development engineering teams to evaluate various process technologies, equipment designs, and suppliers, and identify/select the best method for mass production.
Review and provide feedback on product design for robustness and scaling. Review engineering drawing to reflect the design intent of display component and module.
Driving equipment/material suppliers to develop reliable, high-throughput, mass production-capable equipment that delivers tightly controlled process performance that meets pre-defined specifications.
Leading roll-out of equipment, material, and process across the Apple display supply chain, optimize the process and equipment for device performance, yield, quality, reliability, and throughput, and ramp the new equipment/process into full mass production
Develop metrology and automated inspection equipment and methods for measurement of complex parts and geometry along with tight process tolerances. Experience with advanced optical inspection, and metrology such as optical coherent tomography, confocal sensors, laser sensors preferred
Advanced knowledge of statistical process controls (SPC) methods and understanding of GD&T Geometric Design & Tolerance
Develop Measurement technical documents, review dimensional performance, guide tolerance discussions and resolve metrology / dimensional issues.

Education & Experience

BS + 5yrs experience , MS or Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry/Chemical Engineering, or other similar fields
