Job Summary:
This role will be responsible for analyzing portfolio gaps and developing Merger, Acquisition, Divestiture and Venture Investment strategies for Raytheon Missile & Defense. The selected candidate will exhibit an extraordinary degree of creativity and insight in a fast moving and ambiguous environment in order to provide actionable strategic analysis and recommendations. This role requires the ability to work with minimal supervision and the ability to drive items to closure. Additionally, this role is responsible for identification, qualification and evaluation of early stage minority equity investments in ventures focused on RMD disruptive solutions.


Works with the strategy and technology groups to develop inorganic options for filling business segment strategy and RMD portfolio gaps. Leads portfolio shaping transactions, working with other functions to achieve success. Responsible for providing leadership through all phases of a transaction, from identification through due diligence to signing to close. Develops the strategic rationale for acquisition candidates. Creates strategy for and supports negotiations. Leads the development of an integration strategy for new mergers and acquisitions, working with the appropriate business unit representative(s) to define and implement an integration plan.

The Mergers and Acquisitions Manager will be an integral part of the corporate strategy and development team providing support for all phases of mergers and acquisitions (M&A), strategic investments, and divestitures for RTX/RMD. Works closely with corporate office and RMD leadership teams to develop long-range goals and M&A strategies. Identifies opportunities that could fill strategic gaps and drive profitable growth. This individual must have good critical thinking skills and an ability to logically convey options or scenarios.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Develops MA&D strategies based on defined portfolio gaps
  • Identifies candidates that support MA&D strategies
  • Supports the sourcing and evaluation of acquisition candidates defined to address business segment and RMD portfolio strategy gaps and enhancements
  • Performs acquisition candidate analysis and provides recommendations
  • Manages and supports all phases of deal execution, including coordinating due diligence activities and assisting with structuring, deal negotiations, closure and integration preparation
  • Prepares presentations for executive and business leadership
  • Manages special projects, as required, including M&A market surveillance, M&A scenario analysis, and other relevant activities
  • This is a remote position that requires some travel to RMD/RTX sites and other locations to support the business

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelors degree
  • Minimum 5 years of strategy and/or transactional experience (e.g., top-tier investment bank, business/corporate development role, consulting, VC)
  • Analytical and financial modeling skills
  • Experience in a fast-paced, dynamic, and/or highly regulated environment
  • Preparation of strategic concepts and information to brief leadership
  • Experience in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint required

The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Value:

  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent and minimum 12 years prior relevant experience, or
  • An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years experience

  • Experience and comfort in presenting to executive management
  • Ability to think strategically, an understanding of the big picture and an eye for the details
  • Experience working at an investment banking firm, business/corporate development, consulting, or VC
  • Familiarity with financial data services (S&P Capital IQ, Factset, Bloomberg)
  • Experience with corporate M&A activities, including identification, qualification, diligence and/or execution of acquisitions, divestitures, and venture capital transactions.
  • Experience working in the aerospace & defense industry and familiarity with Missiles strategy
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Ability to work well with others good interpersonal skills
