Job Description:

Raytheon Missiles and Defense Supplier Quality team drives process and technology supply base performance improvement through process control, metrics, audits/inspections, and the pursuit for zero escapes to Raytheon operations. For this assignment, the Supplier Quality (SQ) Manager serves as the Quality Assurance focal point and SQ support for a group of products. Primary duties include Leadership and Quality Requirement concepts.

Leadership: The SQ Manager leads a team of SQ Managers, who are the primary Quality interface between the RMD Programs and its supply base.
This includes providing both communication of quality requirements and performance feedback to the supply base, as well as being a conduit for Quality information back to internal functions within the product line. The SQ Manager is responsible for developing team members, to include giving performance feedback, mentoring, and rewarding positive behavior and results, as applicable. The SQ Manager will guide SQ Managers in analysis of defect data, to identify and act on systemic issues within a suppliers Quality Management System.

Quality Requirements: The SQ Manager works cross functionally to develop supplied part quality requirements and to ensure quality requirements are applied appropriately to program quality requirement documents to ensure compliance and manage program risk. The SQ Manager interprets Quality requirements (Q-Notes) and makes critical decisions on Q-Note application to procured production parts. The SQ Manager will provide problem resolution, and guide SQ Managers in the conduct of continuous improvement activities at suppliers facilities.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Serve as the Supplier Quality escalation point for customer and cross functional leadership (OPS, GSCM, Strategic Missile Defense Mission Area, etc.)
  • Collaborate with programs and suppliers to develop/execute performance improvement plans
  • Support new business proposal work through creating and approving Supplier Quality BOEs
  • Provide daily direction and feedback on performance and development to Quality personnel from a variety of cultures and backgrounds
  • Lead team to a high maturity state of continuous and measurable improvement to affect business success
  • Pre and Post Contract Award reviews to ensure compliance with Technical Data Packages
  • Participate in risk mitigation and problem resolution while guiding suppliers to implement appropriate preventive and corrective actions
  • Perform product verification in accordance with applicable drawing and purchase order requirements
  • Witness/verify product qualification, verify first article inspection in accordance with AS9102, conduct various audits/reviews, Execute Supplier Assessments
Required Skills:
  • Eight (8) years related Quality, Supplier, Manufacturing, and related Engineering experience
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross functional process improvement teams in failure analysis, root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions and implement robust process controls
  • Experience in supporting design or manufacturing processes
  • Experience in development/usage of Quality metrics
  • Experience and knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100, CMMI or Mission Assurance Provisions
  • Experience working with external suppliers and inspection techniques
  • Ability to understand drawings, work instructions, Bill of Materials, and Purchase Orders
  • Ability to travel as required (Approximately 20%)
Desired Skills:
  • MS Engineering / Technical or MBA
  • General knowledge of aerospace / defense products and systems technologies
  • Proficient in the use of Pareto analysis, cause/effect diagrams, process mapping
  • Experience leading or managing a team of individuals from diverse communities and cultures
  • Experienced in Product/Process Failure Modes & Affects Analysis, Regression Analysis
  • Experience with Six Sigma methodology and tools such as lean manufacturing and continuous improvement
  • Able to facilitate cross-functional teams in systematic improvement activities
  • Strong leader that exhibits presence and influence
  • Passionate, high-energy, self-starting team player who achieves goals and strives for continuous improvement
  • Proven successes in building and maintaining relationships with multiple suppliers and customers (internal and external)
  • Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work well with customers, suppliers, and in a team environment
  • Ability to act independently to uncover and resolve issues associated with the development and implementation of operational programs and factories and/or supplier health development
  • Effective verbal and written communication and networking skills to work with upper management and customers
  • Ability to comprehend and translate external and internal requirements into effective work instructions for various internal functions
Required Education (including Major):
  • Bachelors Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics
    Masters Degree in a similar discipline preferred
