We are currently hiring for a Manager, Electrical and Controls Engineering at our location in Millersburg, Oregon (approximately 1 hour south of Portland, Oregon). As a Manager, Electrical and Controls Engineering you lead a team of 11 highly skilled employees and lead site efforts to increase the effectiveness, efficiency, and reliability of our electrical systems, equipment, and electrical distribution. A key aspect of this role is also to manage our Electrical Master Permit Program and providing site signing supervision.


A successful Manager, Electrical and Controls Engineering is a thought leader, problem solver and influencer who provides technical electrical engineering leadership to accomplish business goals that support our continued growth. A successful leader is also comfortable wearing many hats, must be able to multi-task, work well under pressure, and have exceptional electrical trouble shooting skills. In order to become successful, you will have to quickly learn ATI, our equipment and systems, and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams such as maintenance, production, quality, information technology, and other engineering functions to accomplish goals.


Additional Responsibilities:

  • Lead/participate in the evaluation of existing and new systems, industrial control system design, implementation, testing, commissioning, and evaluation of new, computer-based automation systems.
  • Prepare specification for purchase of material, components, systems, services and equipment.
  • Responsible for electrical, controls, and instrumentation capital and expense projects including vendor management, evaluating bids, negotiating contracts, project planning/specifications, project scheduling, coordination of internal plant resources and outside contractors, budget planning, and commissioning
  • Design, program, install and alter/modify SCADA, HMIs and mission critical systems
  • Develop standardization for tiered documentation of digital control systems such as Delta V, PLC’s, HMI (Wonderware), etc.
  • Evaluate needs and implement Arc Flash Studies and infrared scanning, circuit breaker testing and transformer testing plans.
  • Troubleshoot problems, analyze and resolve issues accurately and efficiently
  • Develop efficient methods and processes to optimize efficiency and reliability through technology innovation.
  • Implement NEC, NFPA, & OESC code related and code change training plans for licensed electrical staff.
  • Lead, coach, and supervise staff engineers in Plant Engineering in the electrical/controls disciplines for project development, budget preparation and project execution.


Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • At least 8 year's electrical engineering experience
  • At least 3 years of formal leadership experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • A current Oregon PE certification or ability to obtain one within one year


  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
  • Strong ability to analyze and resolve problems to the root cause and implement corrective actions
  • Ability to lead, train and be a team play following all company policies, union contracts and safety regulations
  • Ability to work independently with high motivation and organization capabilities
  • Possess excellent mathematical reasoning abilities in order to comprehend and apply engineering principles
