The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (https://www.umassd.edu/engineering/ece/) beginning in September 2023. We seek an expert in marine applications of electrical engineering or computer engineering (broadly defined) who will expand the existing blue economy strengths in the department, the College of Engineering (https://www.umassd.edu/engineering) and the School for Marine Science and Technology (https://www.umassd.edu/smast). Successful candidates will join a world-class research team with existing strengths in marine-oriented signal processing, underwater acoustics and transduction.
The Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department combines a tradition of excellence in undergraduate education with a rapidly growing research culture. The department includes fellows of the IEEE, the Acoustical Society of America (ASA), the Optical Society of America (OSA) and the Society of Photo-Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE). Several faculty received prestigious research grants including the NSF CAREER award, ONR Young Investigator award, and the DARPA Young Faculty award. The IEEE recognized several professors with international and regional teaching awards. The department led the campus’ expansion of doctoral programs by establishing the first standalone PhD program in 1996. The ECE Department also plays a leadership role in the University’s Cybersecurity Center (https://www.umassd.edu/cybersecurity-center/), which received the National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Research from the National Security Agency and Department of Homeland Security in 2020.
