Description
The MATFab Facility is seeking a Core Facility Research Specialist to: support medium- to ultra-high vacuum, electron emission and detection, deposition, and etching instrumentation for materials fabrication and characterization including e-beam lithography, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), reactive-ion etching, atomic-layer deposition, photolithography, and chemical vapor deposition.
About the MATFab Facility
The Materials Analysis, Testing, and Fabrication (MATFab) Facility brings together cutting-edge instruments for the physical sciences and engineering into one convenient location on campus. The MATFab facility houses instrumentation for chemical and elemental analysis, imaging, metrology, and micro and nanofabrication. Chemical and elemental analysis gives information about the composition of materials, while imaging capabilities allow us to, in some cases, map elemental and chemical composition spatially. Our fabrication facility is housed in 1500 square feet of clean room space, and has deposition and etching tools for building small structures at the micro and nanoscale, with applications in LEDs, semiconductors, microfluidics, and more. Our imaging and metrology equipment allow detailed characterization of the properties engineered into these materials. The University of Iowa Materials Analysis, Testing, and Fabrication (MATFab) Facility is an Office of the Vice President for Research core resource, offering a wide array of instrumentation to research investigators.
