Description

The Planetary Habitability and Technology Laboratory (schmidt.astro.cornell.edu), part of the Cornell Center for Astrophysics and Planetary Science and Cornell College of Engineering is seeking to fill up to three Research Engineering positions. The successful candidate(s) will work with Professor Britney Schmidt and a vibrant team of scientists and engineers to refine and improve electrical and embedded systems and/or software for field-based robotics programs, and conduct field research. This will facilitate vehicle decision making, mission planning and autonomy on robotic and remote sensing platforms and improve data management and processing. The candidate will be expected to conduct field work for typically 3-4 months at a time, often annually, depending on research program funding. We are looking for a dynamic, teamwork driven colleague who is excited to push the frontier of Earth and planetary exploration. The successful applicant will join an engaged community that includes scientists, engineers, students, and field specialists that collaborate in a truly interdisciplinary manner.
