Are you a credible Localization Quality Manager with a solid track record of delivering large-scale complex programs? The Localization Shared Services group is a global team providing localization expertise to a wide range of business teams at Apple. We are responsible for the production of localized content, and own a range of localization and quality management programs

In this role, you will lead the Quality team to collaborate with several production and technical teams to achieve the highest localization quality. utilize your full breadth of deep localization expertise including linguistic mastery, terminology management skills and technical understanding. You will be responsible for the Quality Management team to collaborate with several production and technical teams to achieve the highest localization quality

Key Qualifications

  • 10+ years experience in the Localization industry
  • 4+ years experience managing localization staff/team(s)
  • Expert knowledge of the localization process
  • Deep understanding of localization technologies and current trends. Knowledge of localization tools such as SDL WorldServer, BeGlobal, Trados, etc
  • Extensive experience in Terminology Management, Translation Memory maintenance and SME and/or end user feedback handling
  • Complete mastery of Excel required, including Pivot tables, Macros/Scripts, and advanced queries. Tableau and/or Business Objects expertise is a preferred
  • Experience delivering training and presenting to large audiences
  • Proficiency in at least one language other than English
  • Having lived outside of the US for a period of time with experience working in-geo is a strong plus

  • The sense to identify good localization metrics from the less important metrics and the ability to present conclusions to partners and senior management
  • Strong presentation skills and the ability to adjust to the audience: from technical and localization experts to those completely new to localization
  • Negotiate and positively influence, discuss linguistic matters and come to an agreement with linguists and non-linguists
  • Handle complex matters, dissect feedback and put plan of action in place
  • Focus on customer service with problem-solving skills

- Run and grow the Localization Quality Management team with Quality Specialists directly reporting to you
- Apply advanced Quality Management subject matter expertise to make strategic recommendations in line with the LocSS vision
- Lead the Quality Management Program covering several types of content and multiple languages across platforms
- Build relationships with our Quality Management vendor partners and manage their performance
- Drive localization vendor performance management, onboarding procedures and further training in collaboration with the production teams
- Work cross-functionally with multiple internal partners to understand their business requirements, resolve quality issues
- Evangelize on the best localization and quality management practices
- Partner up with other Quality Management teams, Language Specialists and Subject Matter Authorities across Apple to discuss linguistic consistency. Build key relationships
- Define relevant critical metrics, analyze data, draw important conclusions and report to senior management.
- Provide input to new tools and technologies that will further assist Apple's Localization efforts
- Strong social and leadership skills.
- Sensitivity to cultural differences.
- Extraordinary eye for detail, analytical and skillful working with data

Education & Experience

BA/BS or equivalent; MA in Translation or similar areas of study are preferred
