  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in robotic and/or embedded software development with Linux platforms.
  • Expert in C/C++ coding following scalable and efficient software architecture and design principles on embedded platforms.
  • Experience with embedded platforms. Experience with drones/UAS/SLAM a plus. 
  • Familiarity with robotics frameworks and middleware such as ROS
  • Proficiency in Python
  • Familiarity with container technologies, e.g. Docker, and cloud services, e.g. Azure.
  • Experience in taking complex software platforms from concept through production. Previous experience working with a Contract Manufacturer a plus.
  • Experience with Linux kernel, board support packages, and multiple environments for embedded systems such as Yocto, buildroot, Ubuntu.
  • Familiarity with wired and wireless communication protocols such as USB, TCP/IP, WiFi, Bluetooth, etc.


The Lead Software Engineer- Robotics primary job responsibilities will include:

  • Architect, integrate, and program Alarm.com’s advanced platforms in C++.
  • Integrate robust and efficient networking paths leveraging custom protocols.  
  • Work with electrical and mechanical engineering teams to design and implement complex real-time algorithms on mobile robotic platforms.
  • Troubleshoot and debug embedded software in a Linux environment across multiple processors.
  • Work with external partners to build, test, and validate production hardware and software, including calibration rigs.
  • Coordinating with other departments, such as Quality Engineering, Software Engineering and Product Management to ensure on-time delivery of a fully tested and compatible platform that meets product requirements
