Lead Member of Technical Staff – Technical Operations (athenahealth, Inc.; Watertown, Massachusetts): The Lead Member of Technical Staff – Technical Operations will perform ongoing database engineering tasks, including database reorganizations, routine maintenance, performance tuning, software installation, database migrations, and backup and recovery. The Lead Member of Technical Staff – Technical Operations will also be responsible for developing and documenting standards and procedures and modifying PL/SQL. Specifically, the Lead Member of Technical Staff – Technical Operations is responsible for: managing and supporting over one hundred Oracle production databases, as well as standbys and development copies; responding to all database issues, as well as to critical events and situations outside of regular work hours; providing requirements for task automation, resource monitoring, and performance monitoring, utilizing strong scripting skills in any UNIX shell and Perl; documenting all database system components; developing, managing, and executing controls in support of athenahealth’s SAS70 and Sarbanes Oxley compliance, including disaster recovery tests per the Company’s SAS 70 and SOX policies; providing metrics to various internal and external customers to accurately measure the health of the databases; maintaining complex stored procedures and web applications utilizing advanced knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL skills; monitoring database activity and file usage, and ensuring necessary resources are present; implementing and supporting database security regulations, policies, and guidelines, monitoring security bulletins to obtain information of potential threats, and installing necessary security patches to ensure ongoing database security; administering, maintaining, and implementing policies and procedures for ensuring the availability, security, and integrity of the Oracle databases; and performing complex root cause analysis of problems, and subsequently making and implementing recommendations to prevent future occurrences or customer impact.

Requirements

Minimum requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field; and 3 years of professional experience as an Oracle Database Administrator.

 

Must have: Demonstrated superior Oracle technical skills, including Oracle 12c, ASM, DataGuard, OEM, and RMAN Experience; demonstrated strong SQL programming, PL/SQL, and Perl scripting skills; demonstrated strong Linux skills; demonstrated Oracle Performance Tuning experience; demonstrated database security and encryption experience; and demonstrated ability to automate tasks and procedures as needed with any modern technology. (Unless otherwise indicated, athenahealth, Inc. is seeking the ability in the skills listed above with no specific years of experience required. All experience can be gained concurrently.)
