Apple seeks a motivated software engineer to drive automation efforts for our hardware engineering and applications team. Use your DevOps and software testing experience to stand up automated testing, continuous integration, continuous deployment, and containerization-- thereby improving our custom software applications that support thousands of Apple hardware engineers worldwide. The successful candidate will give to a wide variety of software projects, platforms, and initiatives, focusing on automation and process improvement, beginning with test frameworks. Come help us build out automation that removes risk from application releases and improves our ability to deliver iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Watch hardware even faster. The ideal candidate will supply outstanding leadership skills and problem-solving abilities to the best hardware engineering team in the world. Candidates with a Software Quality Assessment background who have built automated systems may be especially ready for this role.

Key Qualifications

  • 6 - 8 + yrs. work experience in Cadence tools support
  • Experience with IC Packaging design flow and tools
  • PCB Design, using existing packages or new packaging solutions
  • Co-Design of Package-PCB-IC with tradeoffs on footprint/height, SI/PI and thermal constraints
  • Setup of Package and PCB Design flow methodology for SI and PI constraints
  • Knowledge and understanding of training development and delivery
  • Customer facing experience and excellent social skills
  • Good debugging ability for understanding the root cause of an issue
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience with UNIX OS
  • Nice to have:
  • Knowledge of Sprint development process
  • Knowledge of JIRA
  • Knowledge of signal integrity theory and tools

Description

You will be responsible for supporting, training and guiding the Apple hardware engineering team usage of the Cadence Allegro and packaging tools. You will also be working with the Apple hardware designers to resolve their day to day design problems. They should be proficient in debugging issues and understanding design intricacies.
As a team member you should be proficient in the PCB design and IC package design flows. They should have a decent knowledge of the simulation flows needed to interaction between chip designer and board designer.
Experienced in developing training on a variety of technical concepts including (but not limited to) PCB design and schematic design flows and delivering them efficiently.
You will also be proficient in delivering knowledge through eLearning tools and measure its effectiveness to improve the overall experience.
Good social skills are relevant. They should be able to present clearly and concisely, both in-person and via written instructions. The ideal candidate will supply outstanding leadership skills and problem-solving abilities to the best hardware engineering team in the world.

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in electronic engineering or other related field
Some experience with programming languages like Java, Ruby, Python, Perl or SQL
