Job Description

Development Engineer for Intel Module Repair (IMR) with primary work location at Intel's Ocotillo Campus in Chandler, AZ. Responsible for developing internal repairs and refurbishments for mechanical and electromechanical spare parts used in Intel's factories, to deliver a significant cost savings to Intel.

Divides time between research and analysis, hands-on lab work, and documentation.

The Development Engineer for Intel Module Repair (IMR) will be responsible for but not limited to:

  • Owns repair development project life cycle through implementation, including physical module teardowns and rebuilds (including items such as valves, vacuum systems, Radio Frequency systems, electro-mechanical devices, pumps, heat exchangers, and chillers), determination of failure modes and fab requirements, reverse engineering, development of post repair test validation, training of personnel, documentation, as well as ongoing sustaining, troubleshooting/failure analysis, and continuous improvement to support Intel internal repairs across the Intel Virtual Factory network.
  • Willing to travel, as necessary, to facilitate the qualification and transfer of repairs across multiple IMR lab locations.
  • Balance multiple projects simultaneously to timely completion.
  • Develops strong partnerships with key factory and technology development stakeholders, provides excellent customer support and engages in continuous stakeholder management.
  • Leads with "safety first" mindset at all times.

Position is open to candidates between Grade Levels 5 and 7.


You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position.

Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in any Engineering field (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or Robotics majors are preferred).
  • 3+ years of  manufacturing experience in Engineering role with direct responsibilities involving maintenance and troubleshooting of hardware issues.
  • This position is not eligible for Intel immigration sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Direct experience with electro-mechanical systems, components troubleshooting, control systems design, or test validation programming. Familiarity with LabView programming.
  • Direct experience as a Process and/or Equipment Engineer supporting high-volume semiconductor fabrication.
  • Experience with structured problem solving and project management.
