Role Number:200208828

The Instructional Products team is looking for an instructional designer, or video editor, to write end-user documentation for Apple's professional video applications. We will rely on your post-production expertise to describe in depth how Apple's professional video editing features are efficiently combined to execute specific workflows.

Key Qualifications

  • Expertise in video editing, motion graphics, compositing, and audio post-production, with the ability to translate this knowledge into engaging documentation.
  • Writing or teaching experience in video editing, motion graphics, compositing, and audio post-production.
  • Exceptional writing skills.
  • The ability to synthesize and simplify complex topics and procedures, including explaining video concepts and editing software functionality to both beginners and pros.

Description

Create the best user documentation possible for assigned projects.
Manage time independently and meet all scheduled deliverable deadlines.
Master the tools required to design, develop, and update Apple documentation.
Analyze various sources (customer feedback, analytics, usability test results, and so on) for guidance on ways to improve the instructional products.
Advocate for users throughout the product development cycle, and influence product and interface design through close collaboration with product teams.
Help test and debug online training and help systems.
Collaborate with other project team members-editor, graphic designer, UX designer, engineer, quality manager, marketer, and so on-and communicate instructional issues and decisions as needed.
Participate in evolving the overall instructional design strategy for Apple products.

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Film, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.

Additional Requirements

  • Required:
  • Exceptional writing, communication, and project management skills.
  • Minimum of four years' instructional design experience (or equivalent).
  • Minimum of five years' professional video post-production experience.
  • Familiarity with Final Cut Pro X, Motion, and Logic Pro, or similar applications; Adobe Creative Suite; AVID, Maya, Davinci Resolve, or other professional post-production workflows.
  • Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Film, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
  • HTML development and single-source experience desired.
  • Scripting experience desired.
  • Interface design, human factors, and usability-testing experience a plus.
  • Familiarity with both native-camera and standardized video formats.
