We have an opening for a Postdoctoral Researcher to conduct research in the areas of immunology and cancer biology with the goal of gaining a better understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying lethal progression of cancer from primary to distant metastasis. The research program is also pursuing novel therapeutic and target discoveries to ultimately improve the prognosis and survival of cancer patients. This position is in the Human Health Sciences Group within the Biosciences and Biotechnology Division of the Physical and Life Sciences Directorate.


Essential Duties
- Conduct research in the field of cancer biology and immunology.
- Work as part of a large multidisciplinary team to build 3D bioprinted tumor-immune platform.
- Design, implement, and analyze experiments utilizing in vivo allograft, xenograft and genetically driven cancer mouse models and bioprinted tumor models.
- Investigate the molecular processes involved in tumor formation and disease progression.
- Contribute to and actively participate in the conception, design, and execution of experiments and statistical analysis to address defined problems.
- Pursue independent (but complementary) research interests and interact with a broad spectrum of scientists internally and externally to the Laboratory.
- Collaborate with others in a multidisciplinary team environment and other national laboratories and industry to accomplish research goals.
- Organize, analyze and publish research results in peer-reviewed scientific or technical journals and present research results at national and international conferences, seminars and/or technical meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications
- Recent PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular and Cell biology, Cancer biology or related field.
- Experience with fluorescently activated cell sorting (FACS) and molecular biology techniques: tissue culture, immune cell culture and expansion, immunohistochemistry, microscopy and imaging.
- Experience with animal handling, including study of animal models of disease or tumor models.
- Ability to understand and analyze large data sets.
- Ability to develop independent research projects as demonstrated through publication of peer-reviewed literature.
- Proficient verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment and present and explain technical information.

Pre-Employment Drug Test: External applicant(s) selected for this position will be required to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test. This includes testing for use of marijuana as Federal Law applies to us as a Federal Contractor.

Security Clearance: None required.

Note: This is a 2 year Postdoctoral appointment with the possibility of extension to a maximum of 3 years. Eligible candidates are recent PhDs within five years of the month of the degree award at time of hire date.
