Job Description

Intel is seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager to contribute to the development of Distributed Asynchronous Object Storage (DAOS) software, a new, cutting edge, open-source software-defined object store designed for massively distributed Non-Volatile Memory (NVM). DAOS takes advantage of next generation NVM technology like Persistent Memory and NVM express (NVMe) while presenting a key-value storage interface and providing features such as transactional non-blocking I/O, advanced data protection with self-healing on top of commodity hardware, end-to-end data integrity, fine grained data control and elastic storage to optimize performance and cost.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team of software developers tackling the newest storage technologies in pursuit of exascale computing.  This project is very aspirational a grand challenge that is unifying research agencies, academia, and industry in pursuit of converging HPC, data analytics, and AI.  DAOS currently holds 5 of the top 10 rankings in the IO500 list (io500.org), setting new records in distributed storage performance.  This role is a chance to join at the ground floor and help scale a new business, collaborating with Intel partners, customers, and engineering organizations to bring DAOS to the masses, while also helping build the top storage systems in the world.

 

Responsibilities Include: 

  • Coordinating a team in the diagnosis, design, and implementation of solutions to complex technical challenges

  • Understanding features from existing documentation and discussions with technical leaders

  • Fostering good development practices that result in maintainable, scalable, and on-time code

  • Maintaining documentation of team schedules, progress, and performance

  • Providing day-to-day guidance on prioritization of work amongst multiple deliverables

  • Managing customer and partner relationships, and coordinate engineering activities between Intel, partners, and end customer deployments

Qualifications

Minimum Education & Experience

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position.  Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software development, or any other directly related discipline and 6+ years of experience

 

Your Working Experience Will Be in The Following:

  • Managing software development teams, including performance management, hiring, and mentoring

  • Defining software development practices

  • Software estimation and project planning skills for short term projects and long-term roadmaps

Preferred Qualifications and Experience: 

  • Master's in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Development or any other directly related discipline and 4+ years of experience

  • Experience with CI practices, test methodologies, storage software, HPC, and/or cloud environments

  • Architectural knowledge of scalable distributed system architectures

  • Knowledge of I/O and network stacks, RPCs

  • Good understanding of file system fundamentals, including POSIX conformance

  • Familiarity with open source development tools and techniques

  • Knowledge of Agile development methodologies, dependency management, long term schedule maintenance

Annual Salary Range for jobs which could be performed in US, Colorado:
$145,790.00-$218,800.00
