Apple Books is a first party app on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch with over 90M monthly active users. Customers around the world turn to Apple Books to enjoy eBooks, audiobooks, and manga. The Apple Books team is looking for a talented and seasoned leader to manage our US bookstore and drive our global editorial strategy. This is a senior sales and editorial role responsible for running a bookstore that represents Apple's values while delivering on our fiscal sales targets. The ideal candidate will be passionate about reading, and have extensive knowledge and experience in bookselling, customer engagement, and developing and executing a metrics-inspired editorial strategy.

Key Qualifications

  • 15+ years of relevant experience in bookselling and editorial strategy and execution
  • Strong knowledge of books, book industry, author space, and competitive landscape
  • Well-established track record of building and managing high-performing teams of passionate and knowledgeable booksellers
  • Strong domain expertise in bookselling, coupled with an analytical focus and use of metrics, to make informed decisions
  • Outstanding communication skills, self-confidence, and comfort communicating with people at all levels of an organization
  • Track record of developing and delivering great presentations to executives
  • Results-oriented and motivated self-starter with a desire to drive change

Description
- Responsible for delivering on fiscal sales targets and for the smooth and effective year-round running of the US bookstore
- Partner closely with international business, editorial, and content design teams to develop and execute the global editorial strategy for Apple Books
- Drive daily visits, engagement, downloads and billings for the US bookstore
Work closely with search, personalization, email marketing, and notifications teams to deliver world-class discovery
- Use data, user and author feedback, and industry knowledge to drive improvements to how customers discover and engage with the bookstore
- Partner closely with marketing teams to conceptualize and execute campaigns
- Develop and implement pricing strategy for audiobooks in partnership with the pricing and analytics team
- Manage the publisher relations function to achieve business objectives
- Partner with the analytics team to identify and respond to key opportunities
- Articulate and advocate for store-specific product features that will improve customer experience, increase engagement, and grow sales
- Serve on the Apple Books leadership team and help guide overall strategic direction for the business

Education & Experience

BA/BS required

Additional Requirements

  • Flexibility for the position to be based in either New York or Santa Clara Valley (Cupertino, CA).
