Job Description

Come and join us. Intel is seeking highly qualified candidates to join the BXD (Barefoot Switching Division) in our Network and Edge Group (NEX) as a Hardware Manager - Platforms. We're part of the Connectivity Group (CG) in Intel's NEX, and are looking for motivated, passionate and talented software engineers to join our Networking Applications development team for programmable high-speed switching ASICs. We're a strong, vibrant, cross-site team that helps drive Intel's programmable switching technology and products to position Tofino as the switching platform of choice for Cloud and Data Center network deployments.

In this role, you will need to be passionate about managing a platform team for developing high-performance Data Center Switch platforms using Tofino programmable Switch ASICs. You will have an excellent opportunity to define and create platforms that will be used with Intel's programmable switching ASIC using industry leading P4 Language and work with next generation NOS such as SONiC, FBOSS.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing the system/platform team consisting of HW board design engineers, SI/PI engineer, System validation Engineer and HW Lab

  • Lead the team to collaborate with domain experts and cross-functional partners on defining new product system requirements, next-generation hardware architecture, and long-term strategies and directions

  • Ensure hardware platforms are of the highest quality and delivered on-time to meet development timelines of the silicon ASIC team

  • Performing design, development and testing of Data Center Hardware Switch platforms working with ODM/JDM model

  • Support development of High-Speed Electrical Validation Hardware platforms for Silicon Validation and Tests.

The Connectivity Group (CG) drives new products technologies in the areas of Programmable switching devices, and Smart NICs, Silicon Photonics for data center fabrics. The BXD team is driven by deep engineering skills and a love of cutting-edge projects. We are building the world's fastest switches that are also fully programmable, ensuring the network can adapt to meet the emerging needs of applications and empower users to write solutions rapidly, and to innovate broadly. We believe that when the network is fully programmable-that is, both the control plane and data plane are under the control of the end user- the networking industry will enjoy the same innovative explosion as we have seen in software.


Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Education Requirement:
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field plus 15 years of industry work experience
Master's degree in electrical engineering or related field plus 12 years of industry work experience

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of experience in hardware development of infrastructure solutions across full product life cycles

  • 4+ years of experience in software development of infrastructure solutions across full product life cycles

  • 10+ years of experience building and managing networking engineering teams

  • 10+ years of experience with delivering hardware systems using ODM/CM development models

  • 10+ years of experience with Schematic and PCB design experience using OrCAD and Allegro design software.



Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • 15 + years of experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute networking hardware platforms product design from concept to production

  • 10+ years of hands on experience with high speed data networking hardware platforms design with high speed Serdes interfaces such as PCIE Gen3/4, Serdes PAM4 56G/112G
