Responsibilities to Anticipate:

The Electrical Products Team (EPT) Guidance Electronics Department (GED) develops guidance electronics subsystems for all of our products. This includes staff with GPS, IMU, RF, Power and Digital development experience. The job responsibilities of this GPS Section Leader position include managing engineers who develop GPS subsystems. This includes design, integration, and test activities. The section leader will be responsible for a team of 14 to 18 GPS engineers. This includes hiring, staffing, performance evaluations, mentoring/coaching and expense and timecard approval.

This section leader will also contribute directly to efforts as a Navigation Subsystems Engineer. These responsibilities will include:
  • Representing the RF and Navigation Subsystems Department in providing solutions to difficult GPS/IMU hardware issues associated with specific projects
  • The Navigation Subsystems Engineer shall demonstrate understanding and wide application of technical theories and concepts in the area of navigation subsystems/components used in modern guidance electronics platforms
  • The Navigation Subsystems Engineer will interface directly with suppliers of navigation or guidance electronics components, IMUs and GPSs, to monitor and manage programmatic activities and ensure compliance to requirements.
  • The Navigation Subsystems Engineer will work broad assignments independently within a program Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment
  • The Navigation Subsystems Engineer will be required to effectively communicate, written and orally, and will regularly provide status of issues, progress and accomplishments to leadership and customers
  • The Navigation Subsystems Engineer will work on diverse projects providing support throughout the system lifecycle including system requirement definition, testing, data analysis, verification, integration and production
  • Good written and oral communication skills and the ability to function in a team environment are necessary. Some degree of travel will be required.

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • B.S. in Engineering, Science, or Mathematics. (STEM degree)
  • Current or prior experience with GPS subsystem development, including design, analysis, and test.
  • Minimum of 8 years of engineering experience with progressing leadership roles
  • Experience leading a technical team (e.g. in the role of task lead/ IPTL or Engineer Lead)
  • An active and in-scope DoD Secret Clearance

The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualification We Value:
  • MS in Engineering, Science, Mathematics or Equivalent
  • Practical experience in all phases of the product development lifecycle
  • Experience in development and support of RF guidance systems
  • Coaching, teaching and/or mentoring skills

  • Experience in creation and/or improvement of engineering development processes

  • Strong engineering development discipline and process advocacy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • An active and in-scope DoD Top Secret Clearance
  • The ability to acquire a Special Access Programs Clearance
