Intel is seeking a software engineering manager to manage the Intel Go Lang Tuning team. As a Software Engineering manager, you will lead a motivated and uniquely skilled team responsible for pathfinding activities related to algorithm and software performance optimizations for the latest Intel processors targeting HPC and cloud. You will have the unique ability to manage and grow the team of software engineers with a varied level of seniority. Core team activities include algorithm tuning for upcoming HPC systems, porting of algorithms for GPU-enabled systems, performance optimize operating system-level and language-level runtime libraries and stacks and tuning for of algorithms that saturate the underlying fabric network.

This team deals with the software lifecycle end-to-end: requirements, design, development, debugging, validation and optimization, customer engagement and up streaming. You will be the key person in providing direction and goals to the group of stakeholders both internal and external. An ideal candidate would exhibit behavioral skills that indicate:

  • Strong communication skills, including ability to communicate project status, and technical details to upper management

  • The ability to work with technical leaders in other organization to establish objectives and priorities for the team

  • Experience with managing software project schedules and day to day activities of software engineering team


Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree or a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or with a related field with at least +2 years of the 1st-level engineering management experience.

  • Experience in managing software development projects from requirements gathering to completion, preferably in high performance computing (HPC) and/or cloud or adjacent areas

  • People management experience - performance management and technical pipeline development, project management, stakeholder management, hiring. People management experience with a team of 5-12 engineers

  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with technical leaders in other organization to establish objectives and priorities for technical projects

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Demonstrated fluency in spoken/written English

  • The ability to serve both as a people and a technical team manager

  • Working knowledge of core focus areas including algorithm profiling and optimization, operating system runtime stacks, coding in assembly-language and other hi-level languages (C,C++), cloud service applications, fabrics and parallel programming models, such as OpenMP, MPI, SHMEM, Data-parallel C++

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong technical skills, including knowledge of parallel and distributed programming specifics.

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and specialized tools (source control, bug tracking, metrics collection)

  • Ability to understand SW product architecture on a high-level and make relevant decisions
