Full Professorship (W3) High Voltage Engineering

We are looking for an experienced researcher with excellent scientific credentials and international visibility in one or more of the following research areas:

  • Equipment for medium voltage (MV) towards ultra-high voltage, both AC and DC
  • Gas insulated systems such as GIS and GIL for AC and DC applications
  • Vacuum circuit breaker for high voltage applications (AC and DC)
  • Materials and insulation systems, esp. electric field grading materials and field control systems
  • Insulation coordination (AC and DC)
  • Lightning and overvoltage protection
  • Simulation methods for operating equipment
  • Test and measurement methods as well as diagnostics

Excellent equipped high-voltage laboratories are available (see https://www.hst.tudarmstadt.de/forschung_22/laborausstattung/index.en.jsp) allowing research activities in a wide range of high voltage engineering.

We expect applicants to collaborate with other departments at TU Darmstadt and with other research groups in one of the university’s priority research areas. In addition, interdisciplinary collaborations at national and international level is expected. Relevant experience in industry or in research organizations is highly welcome.

An excellent doctorate degree, pedagogical and didactic skills as well as appropriate professional experiences (habilitation or habilitation-equivalent achievements) are required. Applicants are expected to participate in academic teaching concerning Bachelor and Master courses.

The position is tenured with a remuneration package commensurate with experience and qualifications, following the German "W-Besoldung" and subject to negotiations between applicant and the university directorate. The regulations for employment are specified under §§ 61 and 62 HHG (Hessisches Hochschulgesetz).
