We're looking for engineers with an FPGA and Logic Design background to join the growing Instrument Engineering team at Apple in both Cupertino and San Diego, CA locations. This small team of extraordinary engineers designs and produces precision RF and Analog Test Equipment for use in calibrating and testing the Cellular, WiFi/BT and NFC radios in millions of iPhones, iPads, Macs and Watches. All members of the team bring their own outstanding expertise to collectively take internal Apple products from concept to mass production. Each internal product is designed to Apple's exacting standards resulting in appealing test equipment that maintains the quality, accuracy and function of commercially available offerings. You will already have a hardworking track record of success and innovation in at least one of the following subject areas: FPGA Design; Digital Signal Processing; Embedded Software; and Digital System Architecture. Key Qualifications

  • Experience debugging FPGA with logic analyzers and oscilloscopes.
  • Experience crafting robust RTL architecture for high speed, multiple clock domain designs.
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following wireless communications standards is a plus: WiFi, Bluetooth, GSM, UMTS, CDMA, LTE, 5G NR, NFC.
  • Proven track record optimizing the segmentation of the design for a target FPGA, synthesizing to FPGA, and executing timing closure is a plus.
  • 2+ years experience crafting modem algorithms in FPGAs or ASICs and effectively shipping products based on them is a plus.
  • Experience with embedded software development is a plus.
  • Experience with Xilinx Zynq platform and Microblaze is a plus.
  • Experience working with DSP algorithms to accurate for RF impairments.
  • Crafting bit-exact models for implementation in FPGA or ASICs.
  • Experience optimizing algorithms for power or execution speed a plus.
  • Must be an excellent communicator.
  • Must be able to interact closely with offshore engineering development and manufacturing partners; and should be well organized and have the ability to be flexible in a changing work environment.

Description

As an FPGA design engineer you will develop and optimize precision test equipment used by RF automation systems to test Apple's newest products including iPhone, iPad, Mac and others for different wireless technologies. Duties include RTL Design, prototype bring-up and debugging, hardware bug tracking, functional verification, and manufacturing support. Candidates should have experience with high volume, low power, mobile products. Work with technology suppliers, vendors, and multi-functional staff. Position will require some international travel.
