Flight Test Support Engineer -- ELSYS

Job Description

The Flight Test Support Engineer in the Electronic Systems Laboratory (ELSYS) Air National Guard Program Office (ANGPO) will perform aircraft modification, test execution, data analysis, structural analysis, and systems engineering in support of the Air National Guard Air Force Reserve Command Test Center (AATC) operations located in the Tucson Arizona Field Office.

Job Duties:

  • Design and analyze aircraft modifications for AATC test aircraft, to include documentation of the modifications and advocating for their approval with aircraft program offices or other approval authorities
  • Support other engineers in the development of modifications in order to ensure structures and design meet acceptable aerospace standards
  • Support sponsor programmatic reviews, planning meetings, concept development efforts, and technical interchange meetings
  • Interpret flight test plans and user requirements, and translate testing requirements into a comprehensive data analysis plan
  • Maintain flight test data sets and merge them with qualitative data gathered during the test process
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education & Length of Experience

Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist/Associate I

  • A Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineer, or related technical field.

Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist/Associate II

  • A Masters degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineer, or related technical field and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Masters degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineer, or related technical field and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelors degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineer, or related technical field.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Flight test and aircraft modification experience
  • 3+ years of experience in an engineering field
  • Experience with CAD tools (strong preference for SolidWorks)
  • Experience in one or more of the following: aircraft modifications, design aircraft components, Electronic Warfare (EW), wiring harness design and building, avionics systems, and/or EW mission systems test
  • Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with one or more of the following: test and evaluation of aerospace systems, sensor integration, signal processing, Electro-Optical/Infrared (EO/IR) sensors, Radio Frequency (RF) threat systems
  • Experience with procedures for modification of Military and Civil aircraft
  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis and modeling

U.S. Citizenship Requirements

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.

Clearance Type Required

Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance.
