Marcom is Apple's Global Marketing Communications group. We lead all aspects of Apple's advertising and marketing to ensure the flawless development and execution of extraordinary communications.
Our Brand Strategy team is currently seeking a Direct Marketing Connections Strategist to sit at the intersection of Brand Planning and Interactive to drive the rethinking and reimagining of how Apple communicates the Fitness+ service to owners via direct platforms such as email, apps, and our website.
You are dedicated to the consumer - from behavioral insights to ways they connect on digital platforms. You are the master of crafting a strategic approach, not just assembling a collection of tactics. You cut through uncertainty with plans that put the right information in the right place at the right time for the right person.
You have a strong grasp of and proven capability with email as a direct communications channel: the editorial content that drives it, the data that underpins it, the role of email within a broader connections plan, and the ways in which it can be used to drive a business forward. You build strong, focused narratives that establish the role our platforms play in engaging our consumers across seasonal campaigns, product launches, and evergreen moments.
You are especially savvy when it comes to navigating a large cross-functional organization. Indirect influence is valued and hard to master; you have a passion for nurturing relationships with business partners and use that rapport to align partners around a vision.
This job is not strategy in an abstract sense, but very much applied via digital communication and engagement platforms in the name of better connecting to and serving current and future Apple owners.

Key Qualifications

  • 10-15 years experience as a Direct Marketing Connections Planner or Digital Strategist with solid understanding of digital and traditional marketing channels, including social, SEO, web, email, app, paid media, content strategy and partnerships.
  • Experience with sport or fitness brands preferred.
  • Experience working with direct messaging or email marketing, including CRM management and segmentation, audience segmentation, campaign deployment, improving deliverability, welcoming new users, driving engagement, A/B testing, socializing standard methodologies, etc.
  • History of developing connections plans that carry a strategic thread from strong objectives to meaningful and measurable metrics.
  • Experience creating consumer journeys, campaign narratives, and channel plans, including detailed understanding the important role of ecommerce, and the path from awareness to conversion
  • Able to craft a personalization and segmentation strategy and use it to develop messaging recommendations
  • Can easily articulate the value of digital communications, editorial programming, and integrated marketing to non-creative audiences, both in person and in writing
  • Track record leading conversations with partners from different business groups and uniting the partner groups around a focused strategic approach
  • Extraordinary writing skills, visual storytelling skills, and presentation skills

Description

Help define the consumer journey of Apple Fitness+ and define the integrated digital communication strategies and connections plans that will serve the consumer and drive the business
Grow the integration between direct messaging, apple.com, social, performance, search and content
Combine data sets, trends, and insights to develop detailed connections strategies and plans that live in the most relevant digital environments
Map cultural and market trends and develop a competitive landscape assessment
Write clear and concise insight-driven and data-informed narratives and briefs that lead to best-in-class creative work
Partner cross-functionally to build a coordinated editorial approach across traditional and digital touchpoints
Work with Marcom Data Science to bring quantitative and qualitative insights to your plans, optimize email campaigns, and develop the learning agenda and test plan to optimize performance over time.

Education & Experience

BA/BS in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Advertising, Media, Creative Writing, or related field preferred.

Additional Requirements

  • Creative Advertising or Design Agency experience preferred.
  • Samples of creative briefs or case study samples required.
  • Prior experience in technology, sports and fitness brands a definite plus!
