This position is associated with the sale of Intel's NAND memory and storagebusiness to SK hynix (You can read more about the transaction in the press release - The transaction will enhance the resources and potential of the business' storage solutions, including client and enterprise SSDs, in the rapidly growing NAND Flash space amid the era of big data.

As the global leader in the semiconductor industry, Intel possesses many industry-leading SSD technologies including the most capable Quadruple Level Cell (QLC) NAND Flash products. As a Firmware Architect, you will be part of a world-class team that will transition to lead the SSD business at SK Hynix.

This position aligns to Phase 1 of the transaction, which includes the 3DNAND enterprise and client SSD business. Phase 1 is expected to close in late 2021, subject to regulatory approvals and other customary conditions. At deal close, all employees aligned to this phase of the transaction will transition to SK hynix.

In this position you will be working as Solid State Drives (SSD) firmware architect collaborating with system, controller, and NAND flash media engineering teams within Intel's Non-Volatile Memory Product Solutions Group (NPSG) to architect, design, and implement integrated system solutions to manage host-to-NAND-flash translation (FTL) and related flows and algorithms for leading edge performance and quality of service (QoS) in SSDs. This job requires you to lead, architect, develop and productize optimized system solutions for SSD products to meet performance and latency requirements in many host system use cases and paradigms, utilizing formal education, experience, and engineering judgment. Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Architect, design, and implement new highly parallelized flash translation techniques, garbage collection, and media management algorithms
- Evaluate and characterize performance and QoS behaviors within SSD systems
- Design and utilize simulation software that models SSD FTL, write amplification, performance, and QoS behaviors
- Implement and characterize proof-of-concept firmware prototypes to evaluate competing algorithms for new FTL algorithms, performance and latency
- Lead FTL, performance, and QoS feature pathfinding efforts to maintain competitive edge on enterprise SSDs features roadmap
- Deliver world-class SSD based on the strong pillars of performance, QoS, reliability and cost

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered as plus factors in identifying top candidates
Minimum Qualifications:
BS, MS or PhD degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related fields
6+ years of experience in:
- Software programming and debugging
- Experience in computer architecture design and systems engineering
- Experience in embedded systems development, design, and optimization

Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in NAND Flash or other memory technology
- Experience with multi-processing architectures and techniques
- Experience with Solid State Drive or other embedded system firmware development using C/C++
- Experience in modeling complex systems using Transaction Level Modeling using System C or similar technology
