Job Description

This full time position performs financial, personnel, and technical management for the seven-member Advanced Concepts Laboratory (ACL) off-site team located in Dayton, OH, and nurtures/improves GTRI’s reputation and working relationship with local sponsors at Wright-Patterson AFB. This position is responsible for execution of all program goals and requirements as well as the management and growth of the local team to accomplish such. 

Responsibilities Include:

  • Establish long term and short term goals and provide vision for the ACL Dayton Field Site consistent with the ACL strategic goals;
  • Manage local overhead accounts within budget constraints and provide oversight for all ACL Dayton projects to ensure programs are managed within budget and schedule;
  • Supervise ACL Dayton personnel to include setting performance goals, monitoring progress, and performing evaluations;
  • Coordinate ACL Dayton personnel assignments to meet project requirements and establish proper coverage for employees;
  • Develop and maintain funded work for self, ACL Dayton team members, and GTRI overall, consistent with ACL’s core competencies and strategic plan;
  • Collaborate with other GTRI Field Site personnel and Atlanta-based personnel to execute existing sponsored research projects and develop proposals for new sponsored work;
  • Comply with all program security requirements and maintain accountability of secure data and systems.

Education & Length of Experience

Senior Research Engineer/Scientist

  • A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field and seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field and nine (9) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor’s degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field and four (4) years of relevant full time experience.

Principal Research Engineer/Scientist

  • A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field and eleven (11) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Doctoral degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field and seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Candidate must possess at least 10 years of project management experience in defense-related position
  • This position requires project management, leadership, and knowledge of security requirements related to physical security and information assurance. 
  • Technical background required for project execution in a broad range of projects (e.g., electronic warfare, software development, data science, and defense intelligence).
  • This role includes regular interaction with numerous significant sponsors; therefore, excellent written and verbal communications skills are a must.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Agile software/project development experience or certification is highly desired.
  • Top Secret Clearance 

U.S. Citizenship Requirements

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.
