Job Description

Quality and Reliability (QandR) Physical Failure Analysis (PFA) group is looking for a motivated Failure Analysis Engineer who likes to work in a lab environment on a state-of-the-art electron microscopes and de-processing equipment. If you welcome responsibility to work simultaneously on routine jobs as well as new exciting problems and to complete them with urgency and competently, then this a job for you.

As the Failure Analysis R&D Engineer, you will be responsible for but not limited to: 

  • Responsible for finding failure mechanism and root cause of reliability failures on products based on the next generation semiconductor technology to develop understanding needed for process and product certifications.
  • Collaborate with team of Reliability engineers (QRE), PFA technicians, nano-probing engineers (NPE) and Fault Isolation (FI) engineers.
  • Learn new tools and techniques as needed for the analysis and for FA development and path finding for upcoming technologies. This job requires hands on work, design of experiment knowledge, resourcefulness, and a strong sense of ownership.
  • Some tool training will be provided at the start, but on the job self-training is required.
  • Produce FA reports, document best known methods and to communicate results and conclusions to customers.

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience would be obtained through a combination of prior education level classes, and current level school classes, projects, research and relevant previous job and/or internship experience.

This is an entry level position and will be compensated accordingly.

 Minimum Qualifications:

The candidate must possess at least one of the following degree(s) plus the years of experience determined for each of the areas specified below. 

  • Master's degree, in in Materials Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering or a related field of study
  • 1+ years of relevant experience in Failure analysis techniques and/ or tools. E.g., Hands on experience on SEM, EDX, DIB/ FIB- SEM or with semiconductor process integration

Preferred qualifications:

  • PhD in Physics, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field of study
  • Experience in electron microscopes, failure analysis, semiconductor packaging or process integration
