Faculty Positions

Centre Description: The Centre for Nano Science and Engineering (CeNSE) was established in 2010 to pursue interdisciplinary research on the nanoscale. It is a full- fledged department with its own masters and PhD programs. Science to systems to society is our motto. We have electronics engineers, material scientists, physicists, chemists and mechanical engineers collaborating internally and working with the rest of the Institute on a diverse array of problems. The Centre has a state of the art nano-fabrication facility and a characterization facility for evaluating the electrical, mechanical, structural and optical characteristics of materials and devices. We are looking for device engineers working in the emerging areas of post-Moore memory, logic, system on-chip/in-package architectures, neuromorphic architectures, devices for quantum computing, RF electronics, internet of things, multimodal sensing and cyber physical systems to come and join our team.

Position Description:  The faculty member will be expected to set up a device program that can either interface with the current activities or develop a new branch altogether.  It is expected that this program will leverage the extensive device fabrication facilities created in CeNSE. He/She will have the exciting opportunity to work in a collaborative research environment. CeNSE currently has very mature research threads in areas related to CMOS and post-CMOS electronics, power electronics, integrated opto-electronics, MEMS/NEMS, systems scaling, 3-D packaging and molecular sensing.

Qualification: We invite applications for the position of Assistant Professor. The candidates should have an excellent academic and research record with at least 3 years of post-PhD research experience preferred. The candidate should preferably have a background in physics or electronics engineering. He/she should preferably have clean room device fabrication experience. Exposure to device modelling and simulation, integrating new materials platforms, testing systems performance and to collaborative research programs are desirable.

Salary/Benefits: The position is a tenure track position and will be governed by the norms of the Institute.

To Apply:   Interested candidates should send the application packet to fsc.cense@iisc.ac.in. CeNSE is also looking for faculty applicants in other areas. Details regarding the method of application, the procedure followed by the Institute and other areas open for applications can be found on our website at http://www.cense.iisc.ac.in/content/careers.
