Job Summary:

Full-time members of the faculty are professional educators who have the primary responsibility of fulfilling the Alamo Colleges’ mission, vision, values, and goal of providing a quality education for all students attending the colleges. Faculty members are classified according to the ranks of Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor. Faculty members are protected by academic freedom and bound by its accompanying responsibilities. They are responsible to a College President, Chancellor, and Board of Trustees through the chain of command and accountable to the Board’s policies and administrative procedures. The relationship of the faculty member to the student is one of leader, teacher, adviser, and facilitator of learning.

Faculty job descriptions are defined for Full-Time Teaching Faculty, Adjunct Teaching Faculty, Librarian Faculty, and Counselor Faculty. Faculty Chairpersons have a separate job description.

Additional Descriptions:

Must be able to work in a highly team-centered environment and with a variety of stakeholders at the college including the Alamo Colleges District, student advising, welcome center, early college high school program, STEM program, and dual credit program.

Expected teaching load is 70-90%.

Program management and administration role as a lead instructor or program lead is 10-30%.

This position is primarily geared toward teaching and not towards high-end/advanced research.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

Classroom Instruction

Student recruitment, advising, assessment, retention, and placement

Curriculum development

Participation on college committees

Maintaining the program at a healthy enrollment level

Maintaining industry liaison (e.g., through the program advisory committee, direct industry contact, etc.)


Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Associates degree in Technology, Manufacturing, or Engineering. 
  • At least (3) years of relevant work experience in the Technical/Education field.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Industry 4.0 experience.
  • A Bachelor's or Master’s degree in a technical discipline related to industrial, critical, and advanced manufacturing.
  • Industrial experience in Processing and Manufacturing Automation Technology, Industrial Training, and/or Teaching experience in these areas .
  • Experience in PLC's, Process Instrumentation, Manufacturing Automation, Industrial Electronics, Robotics, Motor Controls, and similar fields.
