About the University:

Atria University is innovating an education framework focused on empowering students to “Learn how to Learn”, combining interdisciplinarity, project based learning and innovative pedagogies towards making the problem solvers of tomorrow. We are accepting our first class of students in October 2020 at the heart of Bengaluru, India - a vibrant metropolis and hub of research, technology, art and enterprise in India. Courses will be 1-3 week full-time immersive modules, with students working on fundamentals in the context of real-world problems. Students take courses sequentially, completing an entire course before moving on to the next one. First year courses will be common to all incoming students and will emphasize foundational skills in ethics, inquiry, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and computation, to prepare the students to choose and specialize in the majors of their choice after the first year.

AU invites applications for multiple full-time faculty positions to teach content in Physics, Mathematics and Engineering, with positions starting either in August-October 2020 or June-August 2021. We seek applicants with a strong grounding in fundamental sciences, but with an appreciation for real-world applications in engineering and applied sciences. Applicants should have a strong passion for hands-on and student centered learning. Interdisciplinary scholars who combine theory and practice, and researchers from groups under-represented in these academic fields are encouraged to apply.

Work expectations:  

60% of time: Design and teach undergraduate courses in collaboration with other faculty

30% of time: Conduct original research

10% of time: Commit to University service

Requirements

Qualifications:

          Required Qualifications-

  • Masters or equivalent postgraduate degree in a relevant field. PhD is preferred
  • Undergraduate level teaching and/or mentoring experience
  • Demonstrated passion and commitment to student-centered teaching
  • Capacity/experience for working with unconventional pedagogies
  • Real-world design, engineering consulting/ industrial experience is valued
  • Demonstrated interest in physics/mathematics education
  • Desire to conduct active research/consulting/performance in addition to teaching in your chosen field
