Job Description

As a Thin Films Metrology Development and Sustaining Process Engineer, you will be responsible for characterizing process and yield problems, implementing root cause solutions, tool-to-tool and process-to-tool matching and continuously improving your process's safety, quality, velocity, cost and performance. You will collaborate closely with people across various organizations within and outside the company to explore novel characterization techniques and survey metrology tools to characterize new processes in a multitude of technology nodes (Silicon Photonics, EMIB, Foveros, Optane).

Job duties include but not limited to:

  • Working with a team of tool, process, integration, yield and product engineers to address performance and yield problems connected to process segment by providing metrology solutions

  • Scoping, install and qualification of new metrology equipment

  • Develop characterization techniques using existing toolset and exploring new platforms

  • Owning a metrology tool cluster, design and execute experiments to help characterize process through development cycle

  • Maintain capability and increase accuracy of existing metrology tools, and support new products as they are introduced

  • Engage closely with tool vendors, drive resolution to any process and/or equipment problems methodically

  • Establish relationships across various departments to drive cohesive learning and cross functional problem solving

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS with 3+ years of experience, MS or PhD in Material Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Microelectronics Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related field.

  • Minimum 2+ year experience in semiconductor processing and material characterization in an academic laboratory or industrial setting.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience in one of the following - Atomic Force Microscopy, Thin Film Metrology, Optical Metrology techniques, FTIR, Uv-Vis spectroscopy, XRD, SAXS, Ellipsometry and Reflectometry.

  • 1+ years of experience in Statistics and data analytics using Excel, Python, R or JMP or similar platforms.

  • 1+ years of experience working with Silicon Photonics/II-VI/III-V materials and/or thin film characterization techniques.

  • 2+ years of demonstrated ability to build or systematically repair and analyze process/metrology tools.
