Job Description

As a Dry Etch Silicon Photonics (SIP) Development Process Engineer, you will be responsible for developing dry etch processes for successive Silicon Photonics technology development nodes and transferring them to high volume manufacturing. You will work closely with integration, device, and the other unit process areas to define the SIP technology roadmap and turn that roadmap into reality.
The ideal candidate will have a successful track record developing dry etch processes, collaborating with cross-functional/cross-company teams including equipment and material vendors, and driving dry etch process improvements to achieve electrical and yield performance targets on schedule.

The Ideal Successful Candidate Will:

  • Understanding of RF generated electrical fields, magnetic confinement effects, plasma confinement and defect creation for dry etch.

  • Developing and optimizing dry etch recipes from concept to high volume manufacturing ready.

  • Conduct experiments to fully characterize/understand process marginality through MBPS.

  • Defining and establishing flow, procedures, and equipment configuration for the module.

  • Develop strategy to resolve difficult problems and establish systems to deal with these problems in the future.

  • Drive sustaining excellence by striving to achieve and deliver leading edge process capability, yield, cost and manufacturability. This will involve exceptional collaboration with cross-functional/cross-company teams and tool vendors to meet challenging program goals.

  • Define the technology roadmaps to meet requirements, goals, and milestones for etch process.

  • Engaging closely with tool vendors, driving escalations and ensuring resolution to any process and/or equipment problems.

  • Utilizing formal education, statistical knowledge, and problem-solving tools.

  • Establishing process control systems for the process module and sustains the module through volume ramp.

  • Training production/receiving process engineers, engineering and manufacturing technicians for transfer to other factories.

  • Transferring processes to high volume manufacturing and providing support in new factory startup as well as install and qualification of the new production lines.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Master's or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, Physics, or Chemistry or related field.

  • 3+ years of experience in semiconductor technology sustaining including equipment operation, process characterization.

  • 3+ years of experience of Statistical Process Control (SPC) or Design of Experiments (DOE) principles.

  • 3+ years Experience with JMP, SQL Pathfinder, and Crystal Ball.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Demonstrated Dry Etch experience in the last 3 years, with understanding of process variables, etch selectivity, profile characteristics.
