Intel is at the forefront of the silicon photonics integration into high-speed optical interconnects and light sensing applications. Since the introduction of world's first hybrid silicon laser, the factory in Rio Rancho, New Mexico (F11X) has partnered with Intel's Silicon Photonics Product Division to develop and manufacture cutting edge technology scaling generations of hybrid lasers from proof of concept to High Volume Manufacturing (HVM) products.

As a Metrology Engineer, you will be responsible for identifying, responding to, and characterizing process tool, and yield problems, implementing root cause solutions to those problems, and continuously improving your process's safety, quality, velocity, cost and performance.
Job duties include but not limited to:

  • Working with a team of tool, process, yield and product engineers to address performance and yield problems connected to process segment by providing characterization solutions

  • Install and qualification of new metrology equipment

  • Develop characterization techniques using existing toolset and exploring new platforms

  • Plan and conduct experiments to help characterize process through development cycle

  • Maintain capability and increase accuracy of existing metrology tools, and support new products as they are introduced

  • Engage closely with tool vendors, drive resolution to any process and/or equipment problems methodically

  • Establish relationships across various departments to drive cohesive learning and cross functional problem solving

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must have a MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Material Science, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Microelectronics Engineering, or Chemical Engineering

  • 1+ years experience in semiconductor processing and material characterization in an academic or industrial setting

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in image processing (preferably using MATLAB)

  • Experience developing applications through MATLAB

  • Experience working optical/spectroscopic material characterization tools

  • Experience working with optical/III-V materials

  • Demonstrated ability to build or systematically repair process/metrology tools considered a bonus
