EW System Test & Evaluation Researcher -- ELSYS

Job Description

The Electronic Warfare (EW) Test and Evaluation (T&E) Researcher in the Test Engineering Division (TEN) will research the testing of EW and Avionics systems. This research involves the development of specialized hardware and software toolsets to create complex test environments for the Missile Warning System (MWS), Radar Warning Receiver (RWR), and Electronic Attack (EA) systems. These test environments incorporate EW engagement models, use of Department of Defense (DOD) and industry test standards, open standards definition, and usage of automated test frameworks.

 

Job Duties

  • Lead technical teams in the development of EW Hardware-in-the-Loop (HITL) test systems
  • Create requirements and test plans for EW HITL systems
  • Perform systems engineering including developing a detailed understanding of EW system under test (SUT) and test requirements for the SUT
  • Design hardware for test systems, including electrical and Interface design, and documentation of design
  • Perform integration activities for systems and software, including interface with EW SUT
  • Debug and test systems including informal and formal acceptance test
  • Support program leads in customer technical presentations (design reviews, test readiness reviews, etc.)
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education & Length of Experience

Research Engineer/Scientist II

  • A Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related degree field and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related degree field and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelors degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related degree field.

Senior Research Engineer/Scientist

  • A Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related degree field and seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related degree field and nine (9) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelors degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related degree field and four (4) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience with Electronic Systems
  • Experience with EW and/or avionics systems
  • Experience leading technical teams
  • Experience with Radio Frequency (RF) systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience troubleshooting complex systems in a lab environment
  • Experience with complex system Test and Evaluation

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.

Clearance Type Required

Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance.
