Job Description

This job is for a full time research faculty position in the Electronic Warfare Analysis Branch (EWAB) within the Electro-Optical Systems Laboratory (EOSL) at Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI). Responsibilities include performing modeling, simulation, and analysis of advanced systems with a focus on Electronic Warfare (EW).

EWAB conducts various radio frequency (RF) electronic warfare studies. The EWAB team has a diversity of backgrounds and skillsets, and a typical project is composed of programmers, analysts, RF engineers, and radar experts. Analysts are required to utilize best engineering principles and employ and understand state-of-the-art techniques for the assessment of EW system performance. Research applications include innovative EW solutions for algorithms, waveforms, and countermeasures, and can include concepts for future battlespace or those ready to be fielded on today's aircraft.

Education & Length of Experience

Research Engineer/Scientist I

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Math.

Research Engineer/Scientist II

  • A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Math and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Math and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor’s degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Math.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Develop, execute, and maintain modeling and simulation (M&S) tools for the evaluation of EW system performance
  • Develop integration, data analysis, and visualization scripts/tools to gather and analyze critical data from computer simulations
  • Perform system analysis and optimization of various EW concepts and techniques
  • Document analysis on system performance
  • Interface regularly with sponsors, including travel as required
  • Must be a US Citizen, with the ability to obtain a DoD clearance, preference given to applicants with an active DoD clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Matlab, Python, Fortran, and C/C++
  • Experience using one or more of these M&S frameworks:  Benchmark, Suppressor, SPAM, and/or ESAMS
  • Strong math skills and ability to learn complex engineering concepts
  • Machine learning and advanced data analytics concepts
  • Familiarity with Linux and open source tools
  • Configuration management tools (Git preferred)
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas to non-technical audience
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a dynamic team environment

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.
