Job Description

The Electronic Systems Laboratory (ELSYS) Air National Guard Program Office (ANGPO) is currently seeking an Electronic Warfare (EW) mission data test engineer for a full time research faculty position supporting the Air National Guard at Eglin Air Force Base in Shalimar, Florida. This is an entry-level position that will conduct EW research, software development, and test and evaluation engineering for the ALQ-213 Countermeasures set installed on F-16C, F-16CM, A-10C, and HC-130 aircraft.

• Perform EW research, software design and development, and mission data testing in a Hardware in the Loop (HITL) lab environment
• Research and design EW mission data functions collaborating with EW system engineers, operational threat experts, and aviation test personnel at the Air National Guard Air Force Reserve Test Center (AATC)
• Develop mission data software to include coding, compiling, and de-bugging
• Conduct software testing including developing test plans, executing mission data testing in an EW suite construct, and documenting test results

  • Utilize verbal and written communication to clearly and confidently articulate engineering decisions to peers, senior engineers, and sponsors
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education & Length of Experience

Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist/Associate I

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Computer, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or related field

Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist/Associate II   

• A Master’s degree in Aerospace, Computer, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or related field and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree; or
• A Master’s degree and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor’s degree; or
• A Doctoral degree in Aerospace, Computer, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or related field.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Candidates currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor’s degree program relevant to this position will be considered. Candidate must have a graduation date of no later than August.
  • Familiarity with Python, scripting languages, and use of databases

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency with Python, scripting languages, and use of databases
• Familiarity with EW systems
• Familiarity of surface-to-air and air-to-air threat systems

U.S. Citizenship Requirements

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.

Clearance Type Required

Ability to obtain Secret Clearance upon hire
