Job Description

The Data and Numerical Analyst supports the Advanced Jammers and Decoys Branch (AJDB). The Data and Numerical Analyst will perform analysis on and implementation of a wide range of algorithms. This can include numerical methods for producing solutions to problems of physical interest, such as various partial and ordinary differential equations, to more modern algorithms in machine learning and computer vision. Additionally, the Data and Numerical Analyst will provide analytical knowledge and skills in support of government sponsored projects spanning statistical, quantum, and electromagnetic physics

Job Duties
The job responsibilities of this position will include the ability to develop tools and software to model various Electronic Warfare (EW) systems across multiple mission scenarios. Tasking will be assigned to leverage the existing skills of the candidate, including physics-based modeling, application of advanced mathematical techniques for data processing, digital signal processing, image processing, signals analysis, radar system modeling, and EW system performance prediction. The ideal candidate will be expected to develop relationships with current and potential customers and contribute to whitepapers and proposals.

Education & Length of Experience

Research Engineer/Scientist I

  • A Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science or similar technical discipline.

Research Engineer/Scientist II

  • A Masters degree in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science or similar technical discipline and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Masters degree in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science or similar technical discipline and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelors degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science or similar technical discipline.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Assist in the design, development, and demonstration of EW simulation experiments
  • Ability to perform analysis on the simulations to determine the efficacy of EW techniques and optimize the techniques (via scientific computing, software design, or the analysis and design of physical systems from a mathematical perspective)
  • Ability to document analysis and maintain configuration management of all software and experiments
  • Analyze the performance and design of varied systems from their mathematical specification via the use of high-level programming languages (Python, Scala, Julia, C, and C++)
  • Ability to assist in development of APIs specific to high performance computing, machine learning, or computer vision (Cuda, PyTorch, OpenCV, and Tensorflow)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field of study
  • Programming experience with Modtran, Matlab, Fortran, or Ada
  • Experience in analyzing/modeling applications in signal processing, electromagnetics, or image processing
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
