Organizational Description:

The Test Equipment and Environments Center (TE&E) is an organization within the Systems Integration & Test Directorate comprised of 20 departments and an engineering population of approximately 3,100 people, and over $350M per year of delivered products. The TE&E organization has the responsibility to grow and sustain the Systems Engineering competencies throughout all test activities, and to make test more affordable, credible, agile, and robust.

Within TE&E, the Electro-Optical Hardware in the Loop (EO HWIL) Department has the responsibility to provide, develop, and maintain engineering development stations that operate real-time and closed-loop with the weapons hardware and software. These test environments include Software Evaluation Stations (SWES), Computer in the Loop (CILs), Processor in the Loop (PILs), and Hardware in the Loop (HIL) facilities, which are used to perform the development of weapon embedded software, qualification of embedded software, integration of weapons hardware and software, and verification of the weapons systems performance. The EO HWIL department supports all Raytheon Missiles and Defense (RMD) EO products, including new business initiatives, maintenance contracts, Internal Research and Development (IRADs), and Engineering Capital projects. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Development of test environments mechanical requirements, mechanical analysis, design, and documentation
  • Working with design drafting personnel to guide the preparation and release of the test environments Technical Data Package (TDP)
  • Verification of mechanical requirements, acceptance testing, and delivery of the equipment
  • Performance of geometric dimensioning and tolerance analysis
  • Verification that mechanical designs can be fabricated and assembled into higher level assemblies
  • Working closely with Supply Chain Management and manufacturing suppliers for procurement of all material items and build-to-print designs
  • Performance of structural, thermal, and center-of-gravity analyses
  • Development and execution of technology roadmaps to insert new technologies in these engineering test environments.
