Job Description

The Sensors & Electromagnetic Applications Laboratory (SEAL) of the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) is seeking entry and junior level engineers/scientists who are interested in a career in sensors applied to air and missile defense applications.  Initial work assignments will include developing and evaluating signal and data processing algorithms; however, candidates will have the opportunity to grow their careers as they develop expertise in different technical areas.  

Throughout their careers, candidates will have exposure to and develop expertise in one or more of the following sensor elements: target tracking, multi-sensor data fusion, target discrimination, radar resource management, radar systems analysis, electronic protection, and radar signal processing.

Education & Length of Experience

Research Engineer/Scientist I

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics.

Research Engineer/Scientist II

  • A Master’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Master’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor’s degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Candidates currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor’s degree program relevant to this position will be considered. Candidate must have a graduation date of no later than December, 2019
  • Previous work experience is not required
  • Candidates should have a fundamental understanding in one or more of the following subject areas:
    • Control theory,
    • Signal processing,  
    • Random processes,
    • Fourier analysis, or
    • Parameter estimation
  • Candidates should be proficient in MATLAB, and software development experience
  • Candidates must be excellent communicators and have a willingness to brief their work to outside organizations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in C/C++
  • Proficiency in version control software such as GIT
  • Preference will be given to those holding a Masters or PhD degree in engineering, math, or physics and having some experience with radar systems and signal processing either via academic course work or through current or previous employments.

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.
