The Engineering Prototyping & Fabrication Department is seeking a Sr. Principal Electrical Engineer to join our team. The Mission of the Engineering Prototyping & Fabrication Department (also known as the Bike Shop) is to provide rapid, innovative and affordable engineering solutions and prototype fabrication that demonstrate new technologies and capabilities, from concept through flight demonstration. We also provide quick-turn innovation, design, fabrication, assembly, and test capabilities in support of existing and future program engineering needs.

We are looking for candidates willing to support and collaborate with our engineers to design digital electronics circuits that implement missile guidance, video and digital signal processing. Our technology base includes high-speed digital electronics, configurable logic, and multiprocessor designs.

Job Description:
The Sr. Principal Electrical Engineer is responsible for the design, analysis, simulation, test, and integration of digital electronic modules and/or Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) for Missile applications. The candidate must be experienced in all aspects of circuit card design including hardware designs with processors, Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA), memory, and interfaces such as Peripheral Component Interconnect Express (PCIe), Ethernet, I-squared-C (I2C) and Universal Asynchronous Receiver/Transmitter (UART). This position will function as part of multi-disciplined design teams across multiple projects. This person will be the Responsible Engineering Authority (REA) for development of one or more complex modules, Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs) or units, and will be expected to mentor and guide less experienced team members. This position will interface with Integrated Product Team Leads (IPTL) and stake holders within the functional and program organizations in a fast-paced, team-based, technical environment.

The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)
  • Ten (10) or more years of prior electrical engineering experience developing and designing electronic circuits and/or multi-assembly systems
  • Experience taking a design from concept, thru the block diagram, or requirements level
  • Experience with printed circuit board (PCB) design utilizing Electronic Computer-Aided Design (ECAD) tools for schematic capture to simulate designs prior to fabrication
  • Five (5) years of experience in a technical mentoring or program management role including managing schedule and resources to meet assigned milestones
  • Experience with embedded test techniques such as design for test, design margin analysis and or design for production

Qualifications We Value:
  • Masters or Ph.D. in aforementioned degree areas
  • Experience using Mentor Graphics Design Creation tools: DxDesigner, xDX Designer VX
  • Experience using Mentor Graphics Printed Circuit Board (PCB) electronic circuit design software including: HyperLynx, Xpedition Enterprise (xPCB), and Constraint Editor System (CES)
  • Experience with detailed design to verification, via integration and test
  • Experience using Altium Designer
  • Experience in processor designs a plus
  • Experience working in a matrix organization comprised of multi-disciplined design teams across multiple projects with rigorous design disciplines
  • Ability to prioritize the work of others and handle multiple tasks at a time
  • A strong advocate for process improvement
  • Experience with intellectual property creation (patents & publications)
  • Team and project mentoring skills
  • Knowledge of software and/or Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) code development
  • Experience overseeing a program transition from development to production
  • Demonstrated ability to manage technical and schedule risks and to identify cost reduction opportunities
  • Knowledgeable in cost/schedule development and management
