Job Description

The Xeon Engineering Group (XEG) is looking for Patch Creator/Integrator to directly manage Xeon server patch content creation and tooling requirements for successful handoff to receiving validation teams. We are looking for someone with tools and scripting skills, as well as experience in the IP microcode and SW ecosystem needed for server processors.

The Patch Creation and Integration Owner will work with micro-code and firmware across the IP components as well as the various tooling and modeling teams to track and manage the IP content, integration, and unified patch creation.

In this role responsibilities include, although not limited to:

  • Generating, maintaining, and controlling the requirements to internal tool developers

  • Creating, updating, and maintaining the scripts that pull in the output content from the various tools

  • Executing scripts that generate the required blobs for the SoC Manifest, Unified Patch for a given SoC Product

  • Ensure production signing for all associated patches received and/or created

  • Use clear organization of data from many sources and be able to communicate status and changes that impact the program clearly and efficiently

  • Use analysis skills to understand trends, track issues, and uncover potential gaps or misunderstandings

  • Provide leadership across the IP, SoC, and Software teams to drive execution to commitments and resolve issues

  • Responsible for Integrated patching plans and optimizations that includes schedules, dependencies, and risks.

  • Review the user and technical requirements of the program and communicate expectations to IP and Tooling teams

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.


Minimum Qualifications

The candidate must have a Bachelors degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related engineering field and 8+ years of industry experience -OR- a Masters degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related engineering field and 6+ years of industry experience


4+ years of experience in the following areas:

  • Micro-code and firmware development and experience in managing the execution of firmware deliveries
  • Working with cross functional Platform, SoC, and/or IP teams including Architecture, Design, Firmware, and Validation in the development of high-volume production silicon or board-level products
  • Driving teams to meet requirements, deadlines while maintaining a regular release cadence.
  • Maintaining solid cross-team communication, escalation, roadblock identification, drives issues to resolution.


Preferred Qualifications

Experience in/with:

  • C/C++ programming and/or Perl/Python/Shell scripting
  • BIOS, microcode, server firmware, emulation, and pre-silicon system validation
  • CPU development, servers, and Xeon products
