The primary responsibility of this Engineering Learning Designer is to oversee and coordinate the instructional design efforts to include the analysis, design, development, and implementation of technical learning, web-based training, and online eLearning for the RMD Engineering Learning & Research Services organization. Below is a list of key responsibilities:

Project Management:
  • Provide overall project management to ensure the Subject Matter Experts (SME) time is utilized effectively towards the desired content development objectives.
  • Actively build and manage relationships with leadership and key internal stakeholders across the organization and across the business.
  • Facilitate content development meetings/discussions to ensure the proper learning objectives/outcomes are identified, well defined, and map to the overall business goals.
  • Oversee the development process to ensure deliverables are met within the expected timelines.
  • Partner with leadership on learning design strategies and developing internal communication/marketing plans

Instructional Design:
  • Assist subject matter experts (SMEs) in the training design using defined instructional standards and methodologies
  • Create and/or guide the course structure (template) to ensure a consistent learning experience across all content topics.
  • Ensure final product is proof read for design consistency and language/grammar accuracy.
  • Support control-owner training by ensuring the content and format decisions are documented, and the training is measured for effectiveness.
  • Expertly convert existing Power Point presentations into clean, consistent web based training objects that are aligned with corporate branding standards
  • Instructional design at RMD will use the following authoring tools:
    • Captivate the main software for assembling and publishing courses in HTML5 format
    • Multi-SCO Packager used to bundle SCORM modules together in one package
    • Audition to capture and edit (clean up) audio
    • Photoshop and/or Fireworks Edit and create graphics used in Captivate
    • Communication tools including Outlook email and MS Office Tool Suite
    • Design, develop, and migrate data to SharePoint sites
    • Configure and maintain SharePoint document libraries, custom lists, and workflows

U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.

Required Education, Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelors degree in any field
  • Minimum of 6 years of professional Instructional Design experience such as developing learning objectives or curricula
  • Academic or work experience with adult learning theory and/or instructional design methodologies
  • Recent work experience with MS Office tools suite and SharePoint
  • Experience delivering synchronous and asynchronous online learning efforts
  • HTML 5 web-based course development
  • US Citizenship
Desired Education, Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelors degree in instructional design, education, education administration, technical writing, and/or teaching
  • Experience developing engineering learning content (including simulation content) for diverse engineering disciplines Ability to work well with minimal supervision
  • Captivate software
  • Photoshop and/or Fireworks software
  • Experience with multi SCO packager tool
  • Audition audio software
  • Knowledge of LMS operations and content publishing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
