POSITION CONCEPT:

The Asset Management Lead Distribution Engineer directs the development of standardized fleet Maintenance Strategies for all distribution assets and the alignment of Tampa Electric distribution programs.  The Distribution Lead is the key AM representative for SPP, AMI and Grid Mod and other distribution grid efforts and will coordinate AM support of this programs.  The lead Distribution Engineer aligns the AM distribution asset efforts to ensure a system perspective of the grid.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establish a continuous collaborative reliability management process for distribution assets which involves the development of distribution system Asset list and Criticality, failure mechanism Monitoring Plan, Health Indicators/Policy, Asset Risk Dashboard and Recommendation Management
  • Facilitates the development and management of Recommendations for improvement of distribution asset Maintenance Strategy, e.g. capital projects, outages, operational limitations, monitoring and analysis of asset condition (non-destructive and other inspection and sampling) and prioritize work planning and scheduling
  • Support the implementation of a fleetwide predictive monitoring program which supports our Asset Class Monitoring plans.  Drive the continuous improvement and optimization in the effectiveness and cost of the monitoring plans thru replacement of time-based maintenance with predictive maintenance and the use innovative monitoring technologies
  • Ensure the documentation and management of distribution grid system data including management of design documents, computer models, equipment inventories, equipment monitoring, inspection and maintenance data and other data associated with distribution grid system Maintenance Strategy
  • Collaboratively develop, maintain and audit standards, quality processes, and procedures associated with the distribution grid assets
  • Development and communication of a statement of health and risk for equipment and associated Recommendations supporting the continuous collaborative reliability management process for the distribution grid
  • Facilitate root cause analysis, tracking of reliability metrics for distribution grid assets, management of change including the evaluation of changes to distribution grid systems, benchmarking and the tracking of functional performance and condition of distribution systems.
  • Facilitate the development, implementation and use of operational and information systems to support the distribution grid reliability process

 

Requirements

EDUCATION, LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
(Degree must be in accordance with TECO’s education policy)

Required: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited or mutually recognized program.

 

Preferred: Electrical engineering degree, Florida Professional Engineer’s License

 

EXPERIENCE:

Required: Minimum of 6 years of work experience in distribution system design, implementation, operation, or maintenance. 

 

Preferred: Experience in the following and/or coordinating distribution engineering, system planning, substation engineering, telecommunications engineering, standards, system operations, field operations, IT, regulatory, legal, community relations, corporate strategy and other groups to ensure effective and efficient implementation of grid modernization programs including AMI, ADMS, FLISR, DERM, protection systems, etc.

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Required: Working knowledge of the modern distribution grid design, operation, or maintenance.  In addition, this position requires the ability to organize, lead and resolve technical and process problems. The ability to effectively lead and motivate individuals to meet organization goals and personal development needs is required.  Good project management skills, change management, time management skills and communication skills are required.   

 

Preferred: Working knowledge of reliability centered maintenance practices, grid modeling (Synergi or other) continuous improvement practices


WORK CONDITIONS:

Ability to work in a powerplant and energy delivery environments for extended periods of time.  Must be able to work irregular hours, overtime, and possible holidays

The successful applicant will be required to take and pass a Baseline Medical Examination as part of the pre-employment screening once an offer has been accepted.
